Motherland star Paul Ready has said "never say never" to an appearance in the hit spin-off series, Amandaland.
Set in the world of Motherland, the smash-hit BBC comedy starring Lucy Punch follows the title character as she navigates her new life in South Harlesden (or SoHa), having been forced to downsize from Chiswick following her divorce.
Paul, who played stay-at-home dad Kevin in the flagship series, shared his thoughts on reprising the role while visiting the Emirates x HELLO! Suite at Wimbledon on Tuesday.
While the 49-year-old actor said that a solo Kevin spin-off is not on the cards, he didn't rule out an appearance in Amandaland.
When asked if there was any chance of Kevin rekindling his surprise romance with Amanda – a major plot twist in the third season of Motherland – Paul replied: "No, I think that's dead. I think that's it. But you never know. I mean, never say never."
Expressing his admiration for his former co-star, Paul added, "I love Amandaland. Lucy's incredible.
"Characters like Amanda and Kevin were incredible clowns in the perfect sense. You can see their pain and you can see them struggling to deal with it. And it was enjoyable to play Kevin," he said.
Paul, a guest of Emirates, Official Airline Partner of The Championships, also reflected on how fatherhood has highlighted just how accurately Motherland captured the realities of parenting.
"When we did the pilot, which was years ago now, I didn't have a kid," explained the actor. "So then when we did the first season, I'd had my kid by then. As she's gotten older, [I've realised] Motherland is a documentary.
"The WhatsApp groups at school are where it really happens. That's where the action's at," added Paul, who shares his daughter with wife Michelle Terry.
What is Amandaland about?
The series follows posh, highly-strung mum-of-two Amanda, who is adjusting to life post-divorce, having downsized from a spacious home in Chiswick to a maisonette in Harlesden.
In season two, Amanda is still juggling parenthood with growing her online lifestyle brand 'Senuous' and working at Kitchen's Bathrooms and Kitchens.
The synopsis continues: "By mid-series, Amanda's head has been turned by discovering a big house in the area is up for sale. Desperate to own it, she turns to her mother – only to discover that getting Felicity on board financially comes at a price. Her mum may seem evergreen, but is definitely starting to show signs of ageing so maybe living alone is no longer an option…
"Fellow divorcee Mal is still Amanda's basement neighbour and that tiniest of romantic frissons has not disappeared. This series we also meet his ex, no-nonsense Abs, with whom Amanda struggles to connect."
Elsewhere, Mal's unlikely bond with Abs's new husband JJ continues, while Fi starts to find her calling as a professional dog walker and Anne is still by Amanda's side as her loyal and long-suffering best friend.
Amandaland is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
