The doctor is in! Schitt's Creek star Noah Reid is joining Morena Baccarin in CBS's Sheriff Country as Dr. Hudson "Hud" Henshaw, who will lead a medical spin-off currently in early development.
Noah is set to appear in one episode of the upcoming second season of Sheriff Country – itself a spin-off of Fire Country – and if the spin-off gets the green light, he will headline the new series.

"Charming and quick-witted, but rough-around-the-edges, Hud was born and raised in the outlaw hinterland known as Deadwater," per the official character description via CBS.
"He is the proud son of convicted felons, yet refused to take the family's drug money to pay for medical school. He is described as a passionate doctor who embodies his oath to 'first do no harm,' yet is not one to shy away from a good bar fight. Though he is deeply committed to the community he grew up in, he remains a restless soul."

Noah is best known for his role as Patrick on Schitt's Creek, but has also appeared in Murder in a Small Town, and The Vampire Lestat.
Noah will next be seen on screen alongside Carrie-Anne Moss in the new AMC+ series Yaga, along newcomer Clark Backo, and Heated Rivalry breakout Hudson Williams.
Yaga
Noah stars as Radd, a private investigator who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, and finds himself unwillingly teaming up with apprehensive local detective, Carson (Clark Backo).
Henry is the young heir to a powerful fishery, while Carrie stars as Katherine, a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men who engages in a sexual relationship with Henry.
Yaga is based on the witch-like figure from Slavic folklore.
Sheriff Country
Sheriff Country has been a huge hit for CBS, continuing to grow its audience week-on-week across season one.
It follows Sheriff Mickey Fox (played by Firefly star Morena), the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (Fire Country‘s Diane Farr), as she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater, while also dealing with her ex-con father and a wayward daughter.

On-set romance
Ben and Morena met on the set of Gotham, where their characters enjoyed a seasons-long romance. They tied the knot in 2015 and have two children.
