This is not a drill! Netflix has unveiled a first look at the upcoming second season of its hit spy thriller, Black Doves – and it looks like audiences are in for a treat.
Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire shares the screen with Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw in the high-octane series, which follows three operatives working for the clandestine Black Doves organisation.

In season one, Helen embarked on a perilous mission to uncover the truth behind the murder of her secret lover Jason, with the help of her former colleague, exiled assassin Sam (Whishaw).

What to expect from Black Doves season 2
In season two, Helen is "walking a more treacherous line than ever" as she continues to betray her nation's secrets to the covert Black Doves while her husband prepares to become Prime Minister.
The synopsis continues: "As Helen's enigmatic handler Mrs Reed (Sarah Lancashire) is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend Sam (Ben Whishaw). The once high-end triggerman is now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponised, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything.

The action-packed trailer reveals a new handler stepping in for Reed following the sudden death of two Black Doves agents, while Ambika Mod's character, Laila, joins the operative team.

Who stars in Black Doves season 2?
Keira Knightley (Pride and Prejudice, The Imitation Game) stars as Helen, opposite Ben Whishaw (This Is Going to Hurt, Peter Hujar's Day) as Sam and Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley, Julia), as Reed.
Also reprising their roles are Andrew Buchan (Code of Silence, Apartment 7A), Kathryn Hunter (Ann Droid, Ladies First, Poor Things), Ella Lily Hyland (Towards Zero, Fifteen Love), Gabrielle Creevy (Amadeus, The Guest), and Agnes O'Casey (Star City, Lies We Tell).
Joining the star-studded cast for season two are Ambika Mod (One Day) as Black Doves agent Laila, Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) as Black Doves executive Mr. Conteh and Sam Riley (Firebrand) as Patrick.
Neve Campbell (Scream, The Lincoln Lawyer), Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), Goran Kostic (Canary Black, Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Samuel Barnett (Lee) have also joined the cast.
Black Doves returns to Netflix on 5 November.
