Romesh Ranganathan has previously spoken out about his time on Celebrity Traitors, admitting that he was the "wrong flavour" while discussing his time on the show.
Speaking on the Wolf and Owl podcast back in September, which he hosts with fellow comedian Tom Davis, he said that he was the wrong flavour "for a certain type of people," then explained that it felt "really weird" to be disliked.
"I think to myself, I love you, and the idea that they wouldn’t like you feels really weird to me. But the truth is that there are some people whose personality just rubs people up the wrong way.
"So sometimes you have to accept that, however you are, it’s not for someone else. I think in life we are all guilty of going, ‘I just don’t get it. I’ve been so nice to that person’. But they just don’t vibe with you. Sometimes people just don’t like you, and that’s okay."
While Romesh didn't name anyone who competed with him on the show specifically, The Mail on Sunday reported that comedian James Acaster had complained to production about Romesh and his good friend Rob Beckett after being "teased and mocked" on the show, which the BBC has since claimed was "categorically untrue".
Fans also spotted some tension between Romesh and his fellow Faithful teammate James Blunt in the finale, after Romesh suspected that James might be a Traitor in the final moments of the show. The moment led to James being voted out, while Romesh went on to win the series.
There was a particular moment on Traitors: Uncloaked when Romesh joked: "As we were walking out, Claudia whispered to us, 'Thank God you got rid of Blunt,'" with James looking slightly unsure about the joke. One person wrote on X: "Poor James Blunt not quite sure if Romesh was joking there (could hear him whispering to Claudia 'Did you say that?')"
Another fan added: "Why did Romesh tell James Blunt that Claudia had said good job you got rid of Blunty? Did I mishear this? It felt nasty and mean. Anyone else feel this?" A third person added: "It was a joke. If you know anything about James Blunt, you know he does this to himself all the time!"
James himself appears to have taken his close call with winning the show with a good deal of humour, simply tweeting: "Did I win?" after sensationally falling at the final hurdle when he requested to vote again for a Traitor, while Romesh and their co-star Sebastian Croft had voted to end the game. One of his fans replied to the post, joking: "You snatched defeat from the jaws of victory."
