At 47, Kate Hudson has the gleaming, dewy skin that I can only dream of. Whether she's dazzling on the red carpet or shooting movie scenes as she was this week, alongside Javier Bardem, the actress always looks exceptional, and on Wednesday I was lucky enough to spend time with the actress' makeup artist, Naoko Scintu, to get the lowdown on how Kate looks so glowy all the time.
I met Naoko on the rooftop of Harrods, and she was refreshingly candid about her celebrity clients, who include Bridgerton diamond Yerin Ha, One Battle After Another star Chase Infiniti and forever icon Sarah Michelle Geller.
While many MUAs are guarded about how they create that coveted A-list glow, Naoko was happy to share the secrets, all the while remaining respectful of the privacy of the people whose faces she paints. Watch the video below for Naoka's A-lister advice…
Kate Hudson's makeup secrets
"Kate always says to me, 'You make my skin feel like I'm not wearing makeup, ' which is such an amazing compliment," Naoko revealed. "With older skin, the secret to glow is less is more.
"It's more about the layers of hydration; that's what is really key," Naoko recommends applying a primer, followed by a skin tint, and then using concealer to pinpoint any blemishes, rather than using a heavier base.
"I always want the skin to look as natural as possible, and definitely as you age, the more hydration, the better."
As for the age-old belief that powder is the devil when it comes to older skin, Naoko shoots down that notion. "I always use a translucent powder because that looks more natural. For me, as we get older, it's all about being natural and looking healthy and glowy."
She concludes: "Less is more. The less you use means makeup isn't going to gather in your wrinkles, it's going to look more flawless."
