Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt has shared some ultra-rare comments about her one-year-old daughter she welcomed in 2024.
The British actress, 46, has opened up about being a working mum in the industry, as well as her fears for her little one, given the state of social media and the pressures that fall on women.
Talking on Josh Smith's Great Chat Show, she said of being a working mum: "I'm in an industry that is in some ways fantastic for being a working mum and in some ways not because you have to be away from home and then you have to make the decision.
" You know my daughter is so young, I don't want to be away from her so we are travelling together. But there's a huge amount of logistics that go with that as well."
Joanne continued, adding that long periods being at home is a blessing in comparison to working a corporate job.
"It is an industry where I would be able to bring her into work if I need to. Whereas lots of people don't have that opportunity, but for any working parent, the juggle is real. You know, no matter what you do for a living.
"No matter what your childcare situation if you have family close by, if you don't, there's all these things and most households can't afford to be on a one income 100%, and some households have no choice because they are a one parent family."
Joanne opens up about worries of raising a daughter
One of the biggest concerns about raising her daughter is the pressure that falls on women to look a certain way.
‘I think as a woman, what I'm seeing now is how we as a society are becoming so ridiculously harsh on the way women look. I find it kind of terrifying being the mother of a daughter, being a mother of a girl, thinking, I hope there's a huge shift by the time she grows up." She later added: "Society has become obsessed with women ageing."
Joanne's life away from the cameras
While she keeps her family life away from the spotlight, Joanne opened up about her divorce from her first husband, James Cannon.
Talking to the Telegraph in 2021, Joanne announced that she and James had separated. Although Joanne didn't reveal the reasons behind the separation, the actress did admit that they had been apart for while.
"We've actually been separated for a little while," she explained. "I'm looking to the future… I'm just going to embrace this year and see what happens."
The actress later opened up about the breakdown of her relationship during a 2021 interview with Red Magazine: "I didn't think I'd be divorced, I didn't think we'd be going through a pandemic, I didn't think my life would be in flux in the way it was. But I'm OK with that."
Joanne went on to reveal that she had taken over Run It following the split. "I'm excited to move forward with it and get my head around the direction in which I want to take things. We've already had a script commissioned by Sky. It feels like an exciting new chapter."
Joanne then went on to find love with her boyfriend Mark, although little is known about their relationship.
