Excitement is building for the coronation of King Charles III, a momentous occasion in British history, but will Charles' wife Queen Consort Camilla have to give up her private home after the state event?

Camilla bought a £850k property in Wiltshire, called Ray Mill House, following her split from her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, in 1994.

She lived there between 1996 and 2003, and kept it as a country base ever since. Even since marrying Charles, Camilla does visit the house for some quiet alone time.

It is unlikely that Camilla will relinquish her property even after Charles is coronated, as it is quite commonplace for royals to own their own private homes as well as live in homes owned by the Crown Estate.

The estate is incredibly stunning, with double height ceilings, large windows, a cosy snug room and a roof terrace that's perfect for surveying the beautifully manicured grounds.

What proves its beauty is that it served as the backdrop for Camilla's 75th birthday portraits shot by Princess Kate as well as the glorious wedding reception of Camilla's daughter Laura property when she married Harry Lopes in 2006.

Charles has his own privately owned property just a 30-minute drive away, which is Highgrove House, and he has owned it since 1980. The nine-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion is renowned for its beautiful décor and stunning gardens.

King Charles and Camilla are currently living at Clarence House in London, and although many may expect the royal couple to move into the 'big house' of Buckingham Palace after the ceremony, it may be a little while longer until they relocate.

That's because the palace is currently undergoing extensive works due to its electrics and infrastructure being rather dated and needing an overhaul. At present, it may not be ideal to live in, but hopefully soon the couple will be able to elevate to the palace and enjoy its vast space.
