Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are no strangers to the jetsetting lifestyle, and now they are adding another international property to their portfolio.
The Wednesday actress, 56, has purchased a multi-million-pound penthouse apartment in Rome for her Basic Instinct star husband, 81, according to a new report in The Mail on Sunday.
Catherine's property purchase
Per the report, Michael saw the apartment for the first time last week – and it is in a prime location within a prestigious historic palazzo near the ancient Piazza Navona. It features stunning views across the city towards St Peter's Basilica.
It has reportedly been somewhat of a passion project for The Darling Buds of May star, who has been renovating the property since she first viewed it last November and has spent millions on artwork.
The report also revealed that earlier this week, the couple was spotted visiting the new abode together, with the Fatal Attraction actor sporting a baseball cap and sunglasses while his wife styled it out with a £3,900 Chanel bumbag, before dining at San Marco restaurant.
Catherine and Michael's property portfolio
It is not the only property owned by the A-list pair, who are parents to son Dylan, 25, and 23-year-old daughter Carys. Their mainstay home is over 4,000 miles away in New York, though they previously resided in Bermuda.
They primarily live on a riverfront estate in Irvington, which covers an impressive 12,000 square feet and boasts eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
However, nearly two years after they listed the estate for a whopping $12 million, after buying the property for $4.5 million in 2019, Catherine and Michael dropped the asking price by $2.25 million in April in a bid to offload the massive estate.
The listing was removed in April 2025 and put back on the market for $10 million the following month, only to be taken down again before it was relisted on March 19, 2026, for a reduced price of $9.75 million.
According to IG Mansions, the couple is still struggling to find a keen buyer. It is the house that Catherine and Michael bought after downsizing from their 15,000-square-foot mansion in Bedford, which they reportedly sold for almost $20.5 million.
As of August 2025, the A-listers also own a house in Canada and one in Spain. "I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty, but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable," the Chicago actress told The Sunday Times Style.
