The girls were global stars within six months, and their popularity has stood the test of time. As well as their singing, their cheeky antics and cutting-edge fashion put them front and centre in popular culture. Who can forget that iconic Union Jack dress of Geri's fashioned from a tea towel?

In May 1997 she walked out of the group, and even had her own solo career with hits such as It's Raining Men, but despite their differences at the time, the band have since reunited for a tour (without Victoria).
