Cardinal shares thoughts

Speaking after the service, Cardinal Vincent Nichols explained how the funeral was the first royal funeral held in a Catholic Church "probably for 300 years". He added that there is a "strong affinity" between the royal family and the Catholic Church, before concluding: "While it was a family funeral, nevertheless it's been quite a public event."

Trump leaves for the UK

Alongside the funeral today, the other major royal event this week is the state visit of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The Trumps have been seen  leaving the US in Air Force One and they were joined by the President's daughter, Tiffany and her husband, Michael Boulos.

Protests erupt in Windsor

Ahead of Trump's arrival, crowds have gathered to protest his visit, with some holding signs featuring messages such as "hate never made any nation great" and "Traitor, hater, would-be dictator."

Princess Catharina-Amalia takes centre stage for important royal event

The Dutch royals were out in force on Tuesday as they marked Prinsjesdag, a day similar to the state opening of parliament in the United Kingdom. The event ended with an appearance on the balcony of the Palace Noordeinde. While the day features plenty of pomp, including a ride in the Glass Carriage, it also sees King Willem-Alexander addressing the States-General of the Netherlands and giving the annual Speech from the Throne. The monarch was joined by his family, including Princess Catharina-Amalia, the heir to the Dutch throne.

Donald Trump arrives in the UK

Trump along with First Lady Melania Trump arrived at Stansted Airport for their second state visit to the UK around 9:25pm. They were greeted by the US Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Monica Crowley, and welcomed by The Viscount Hood, Lord-in-Waiting, on behalf of the King.
