Prince Harry may be over 5,000 miles away from British royal family drama, living an idyllic life at his glorious Montecito home, but he's embroiled in his own chaos with his charity work. In April, it was revealed that the royal is being sued for defamation by Sentebale, a charity that he co-founded in 2006, following his messy departure from the organisation. Now, just weeks later, he has found himself in another tricky situation with his charity, The Invictus Games Foundation, as a major resignation has taken place.
The Daily Mail has broken the news that Melloney Poole, a trustee and vice chairman of the Invictus Games board, is leaving her position behind to focus on her "other interests". She has been described as an instrumental member of the team so this will undoubtedly deliver a huge blow for Harry and the wider team.
Why is Prince Harry being sued?
Sentebale was founded to fight HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, and the organisation lodged a defamation claim against the royal in March in the High Court. Mark Dyer, a former trustee of the charity, is also being sued alongside Harry.
A spokesperson for Harry and Mark has said: "As Sentebale's co-founder and a founding trustee, they categorically reject these offensive and damaging claims. It is extraordinary that charitable funds are now being used to pursue legal action against the very people who built and supported the organisation for nearly two decades, rather than being directed to the communities the charity was created to serve."
The Charity Commission has already looked into alleged issues within the organisation, and when they published the findings of the investigation, it revealed that "no wrongdoing" took place.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's joint charity
Harry is still thriving with his own company, Archewell Philanthropies, which he co-owns with his wife, Meghan Markle. “This charitable entity allows the couple and their children to expand upon their global philanthropic endeavours as a family,” reads their website.
When the couple rebranded the company from Archewell Foundation to Archewell Philanthropies, a spokesperson for the couple stated: "This next chapter allows Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to broaden their global philanthropic efforts as a family, with meaningful reach and maximum impact, grounded in the same values, partnerships, and their commitment to show up and do good."
Harry and Meghan's passion projects include responsible technology, preventing online harm and humanitarian efforts. In April, Harry embarked on a solo visit to Ukraine, making clear that despite stepping down from his royal duties, he's still keen to follow in the footsteps of his mother, Princess Diana, who spearheaded humanitarian projects worldwide.
