The event was a firm favourite of Charles' mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, with the former monarch seen attending the show four months before she passed away on 8 September 2022.
At times, Charles, who wore a grey suit for his outing, looked positively tickled, although at other times, he also had his head in his hands.
Even before she became the monarch, Elizabeth was a frequent attendee at the show. A then Princess Elizabeth can be seen here alongside her sister, Princess Margaret, as they attended the first day of the show all the way back in 1947. They were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort on this occasion.
It wasn't always a happy occasion for Her Late Majesty when she made her way to the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Back in 2013, she was looking decidedly grumpy at one moment!
Although it poured down with rain in 2019, the late monarch made sure to attend. It's clear how much she loved horses, as she gazed lovingly at a white horse as it made its way past her.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show was called off in 2020, but when it reopened in 2021, Her Late Majesty, made sure to be in attendance. Showing off her love of dogs, Queen Elizabeth wore a headscarf featuring plenty of pooches. And when her own horse, Fools Paradise, competed, she made sure her eyes were locked on them.

Final appearance
The event meant so much to the former monarch, that even in her final months, she made sure to attend the service. Although Queen Elizabeth would continue making public appearances, this was one of her final ones. This photo showed the former monarch watching 'A Gallop Through History', which formed part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
