We love a big royal occasion, and Saturday was the monarch's official birthday, Trooping the Colour, where we got to see King Charles III joined by his wife Queen Camilla and a whole host of royal faces. Future King Prince William was there with his wife Princess Kate and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The family have had a tough few years, with Princess Kate's cancer struggles, but the royal looks back to top form, and she and William appeared more in love than ever as they enjoyed the celebrations. The couple are known for their subtle displays of affection as opposed to grand PDAs, but their warm looks at each other and gentle touches are often heralded as true displays of connection.

The couple enjoyed the balcony fly-past alongside their children, candidly chatting, pointing and waving. Then, in a rare moment, William and Kate shared a brief look of love, flashing smiles at one another.

In another sweet moment, William turned his attention to the sky for the flypast, while Kate was spotted gazing lovingly up at her husband.

They were also pictured being doting parents to their three children, with Kate checking in on her eldest son, Prince George, when he sneezed on the balcony and in another moment, she was seen with a reassuring hand on George's back.

The event has marked the monarch's official birthday for over 260 years. Over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians take part in the display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare. The parade travels from Buckingham Palace down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade and closes with the Royal Air Force fly-past.

Why were Prince Harry and Meghan not at Trooping the Colour?

In 2024, the pair shared a similar exchange

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not in attendance at this year's occasion, presumably because the invite was not extended to them after they stepped down as senior royals and missed various royal occasions in the past few years. The last time they were pictured at Trooping the Colour was in 2022, when they both watched from a side window at Buckingham Palace. In 2019, they made a more prominent appearance, proudly standing on the balcony together and featuring in the carriage procession.
