Prince Harry showed off his barbecuing skills at a very low-key outing in Texas over the weekend – as his wife, Meghan Markle, enjoyed a girls' night at home.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, took part in a spot of volunteering, helping to BBQ food prepared by United Airlines for competitors, families, and staff at the Warrior Games in San Antonio.
Wearing a white shirt and a blue apron, Harry was seen flipping burgers and using tongs to serve meat in rolls in videos on social media shared by the Fisher House Foundation, which provides for veterans.
Harry couldn't resist showing his cheeky nature, beaming as he posed for selfies and "photobombing" other people's photos by jumping into the frame.
The Fisher House Foundation wrote: "A special lunch came with a special surprise today. Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, joined the Warrior Games Family Program serving up bbq cooked up by the @united airlines bbq team to families competitors and staff.
"More than a decade after attending his first @dowwarriorgames, Prince Harry continues to return to the event that helped inspire the creation of the @weareinvictusgames, a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact of adaptive sports and the resilience, determination, and camaraderie on display throughout the week."
The event for wounded, injured, or ill military personnel is organised annually by the US government.
Meghan's girls' night
While Harry enjoyed his trip to Texas, Meghan appeared to host a girls' game night at their $29 million home in Montecito, California.
Kelly McKee Zajfen, one of Meghan's closest friends, shared on Instagram: "Ugh oh. Another one has been taken by the Maj bug, that being me. A perfect day spent with my ladies and having some much-needed mama time. Thanks M & T."
The initials M & T appeared to refer to Meghan and Tracy Robbins, who is married to former Paramount boss Brian Robbins, and is also part of Meghan's "Montecito moms" friendship circle.
Tracy replied: "Love you!", and added: "You are a natural. Love you. Miss you already."
Meghan, 44, revealed she hosts regular mahjong game nights with her girlfriends during an episode of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, last year.
The girl group, featuring Tracy Robbins, Victoria Jackson, and Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, was hosted by Meghan to play over tacos and cocktails in season one of the programme.
In fact, they even call themselves the Maj Squad – and now Kelly, who recently welcomed a baby boy, has joined in. The popular tile game is thought to have originated in 19th-century China.
Meghan's friend, Vicky Tsai, told People Magazine last year: "She's really creative and curious. She enjoys things that you wouldn't expect - like mahjong.
"She's constantly trying to pull me into her weekly mahjong group. And she and Harry are pretty passionate about pickleball. They are trying to convince me to join the group!"
A busy weekend
Harry also made a surprise solo appearance at the Knicks vs Spurs final over the weekend during his trip to San Antonio.
The Duke of Sussex was photographed courtside without his wife, alongside celebrities and sports superfans.
Dressed casually in a navy polo shirt and grey baseball cap, Harry appeared relaxed as he watched the action unfold from premium courtside seats.
The outing offered a rare glimpse of the royal enjoying some downtime away from his charitable commitments and family life in California.
Since relocating to the United States in 2020, Harry has become an increasingly familiar face at major sporting events, including NFL games, Formula One races, and basketball fixtures.
The Sussexes' activities in the US took place while the rest of the royal family participated in the annual Trooping The Colour parade for King Charles's birthday back in the UK, around 5,000 miles away.
