When it comes to royal food, it's easy to imagine they're enjoying banquets with multiple courses for each and every meal.
However, the majority of meals they eat are far simpler – and they actually have some pretty controversial tastes.
For example, Princess Eugenie once revealed that her mother, Sarah Ferguson, 66, enjoys eating mackerel and doesn't like chocolate.
When asked about Fergie's "quirks" for Town & Country Magazine in 2021, she said: "She doesn’t like chocolate, which I’ve always found weird, but loves mackerel, which I’ve also always found weird!"
The former Duchess of York's food tastes were also made public knowledge back in April, after she was found to be staying at the Mayrlife wellness spa, while hiding from the public eye.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's ex-wife reportedly ordered her meals through room service – with her favourites including bresaola ham with mozzarella and chicken breast, according to the Daily Mail.
Royal food tastes
It's not just Sarah Ferguson who has a love for fishy foods, as the late Queen Elizabeth ate kippers for breakfast.
Princess Anne has also been known to enjoy kippers, a form of salted herring, which is often served as part of a salad or alongside buttery new potatoes, for her lunchtime meals.
She also likes overripe bananas to the point of almost being black, and her love of tinned meat pies for a dinner party.
King Charles famously avoids lunch completely – but has recently begun to eat half an avocado for his midday meal on doctors' orders.
Prince William, however, seems much more in favour of a hearty meal and has spoken at length of his love of chocolate brownies.
In May, he enjoyed a full pub lunch at the Farmers' Arms in Yorkshire. According to a post by the pub on Facebook, the future King enjoyed a delicious spread, including chicken and ham pie, chips, mushy peas and gravy – all of which gained the "royal seal of approval".
Where is Sarah Ferguson now?
Sarah's official whereabouts have not been confirmed since April, when she was spotted at the £14,000-a-week Mayrlife wellness spa in Austria in pictures published by The Sun.
The mother-of-two was seen wearing a blue coat and keeping a low profile in a white baseball cap while emerging from a Mercedes.
It was the first time she'd been seen publicly in 213 days after fresh revelations surrounding her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein were exposed in January's release of files by the US government.
However, she has not been seen since and appears to have moved on from the resort.
In recent weeks, Sarah and Andrew's daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, have made a return to public life.
On 6 June, they joined the royal family for the first time in months to attend their cousin Peter Phillips' wedding to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in the Cotswolds.
Beatrice, 37, was even seen kissing the Prince of Wales on the cheek in greeting, as a sign of their continued friendship.
