Royal Family Recap: Lady Louise Windsor graduates in Scotland as King Charles is in town for Royal Week

Good morning, royal fans! We have a busy day of royal events ahead, from the King and Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh attending the Thistle Service at St Giles’ Cathedral, to Princess Anne and the Duke of Gloucester visiting France to honour the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

Today would have marked the late Princess Diana's 65th birthday.

King Charles has made an exciting new hire at his charity, appointing Sir Nicholas Coleridge as the new chairman of The King's Foundation. The 67-year-old recruit holds a special link to Prince George, as he serves as the Provost of Eton College, where the King's eldest grandson is set to attend this September.

Sir Nicholas told the Daily Mail's Richard Eden he was "delighted" to be asked to chair the Foundation after being a long-time trustee. 

He shares the monarch's deep passions for traditional crafts, heritage conservation and sustainability, aligning with the charity's core vision of a world where we "live in harmony with nature." The author has a history with the royal family, having co-chaired the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee pageant in 2022 - the same year he was knighted - before being appointed Chair of Historic Royal Palaces by the King in 2023.

Fresh off completing the gruelling Three Peaks challenge over the weekend, the Princess of Wales showed no signs of slowing down as she quietly returned to royal duties on Tuesday. Kate, 44, held a private meeting at Windsor Castle with Australian philanthropist Nicola Forrest, co-founder of the Minderoo Foundation. While no photos were released, the engagement could signal a long-hoped-for royal tour Down Under.

Kate climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) to raise funds for the Royal Marsden, where she previously received cancer treatment. After walking 23 miles, she was sweetly greeted at the finish line by Prince William, their three children, her parents and her brother.

"I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back. The Royal Marsden is a place that holds great meaning for me and whose care and expertise are life-changing for so many people," she explained.

Duchess Sophie surprised royal fans by debuting a chic new bob during an appearance at the Groundswell Regenerative Agriculture Festival at Lannock Farm. The 61-year-old royal chopped roughly four inches off her signature long locks, opting for a modern, above-the-collarbone length that was beautifully complemented by a visibly lighter blonde hue. 

This marks Sophie’s first short hairstyle in over a decade, having sported a similar look back in 2011.

Highlighting the benefits for women over 50, celebrity hairdresser Jason Collier previously told HELLO!: "A bob can bring instant freshness as it removes tired, damaged ends, lifts the face, and creates a sense of movement that longer, heavier hair sometimes lacks."

Prince William, also known as the Duke of Rothesay when in Scotland, joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and Prince Edward at the 2026 Thistle Service at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh. 

Taking place during the annual Royal Week, the service honours the Order of the Thistle, Scotland's highest and most ancient order of chivalry, attended by the Sovereign and the Knights and Ladies of the Order. The royals were pictured in their traditional green velvet ceremonial robes as they arrived at the event, which marked the formal installation of the Order's newest appointments, including Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan and engineer Sir Jim McDonald.

Heartwarming footage has revealed the Princess of Wales was supported by her younger brother, James Middleton, during her descent from Mount Snowdon over the weekend. Completing her Three Peaks challenge, the 44-year-old royal was seen holding hands with James, 39, as they navigated the rocky summit path. 

Kate kept it low-key in red North Face shorts, a sporty cap and a rucksack.

The viral video was captured by entrepreneur Phillip Tebajjwa, who admitted he thought he was "dreaming" when he crossed paths with royalty. 

He wrote: "There I was, congratulating fellow climbers as they made their way down from the windy summit… little did I know I was actually speaking to royalty."

The lucky climber also managed to get a selfie with the Princess at the summit, adding: "The Princess of Wales has just stopped to congratulate me on completing the challenge… and then agreed to take a selfie."

Sporting a pair of cool aviator sunglasses, President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron welcomed Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg to the Élysée Palace.

Macron also greeted Stéphanie with a traditional hand-kiss gesture before the leaders discussed AI, defence, Europe's future and key international issues.

The Princess Royal paid a moving tribute to mark the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

The senior royal headed to France with the Duke of Gloucester, where she laid a wreath at a service commemorating the event at the Ulster Tower in Thiepval.

Anne is the President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and the Duke of Gloucester is the Honorary President of the Somme Association. The event on Wednesday honoured those who fought and died in one of the deadliest battles of the First World War.

The Duke, also known as Prince Richard, was the late Queen’s cousin, with he and Anne sharing King George V as their grandfather. His father, Prince Henry, was the late Queen Elizabeth's uncle.

Lady Amelia Windsor was a vision in polka dots when she stepped out at the the RH London unveiling at The Gallery in Mayfair.

The royal, 30, was a vision in the spaghetti-strap dress, which perfectly flattered her petite frame.

 Always opting for the sustainable fashion choice, Lady Amelia previously revealed her love for sustainable fashion was developed during university.

Princess Anne arrived in France to mark the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme in World War I and she was joined by one of her distant relatives, the Duke of Gloucester.

During the visit, the pair headed to the Thiepval Memorial, the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) memorial by number of casualties commemorated at over 72,000. The memorial honours British and South African soldiers who died between 1915 and 1918 but have no known gravesite.

England has made it through to the Round of 16 in the World Cup, and Prince William has shared a message of support to the team, including Harry Kane.

"Never in doubt 😉 well done England! Onto the next! 💪🏻 W," William shared on social media, with a wry reference to the stress many fans felt during the game.

England played the Democratic Republic of Congo who scored first and held England to a 1-0 score until the final 15 minutes when Harry scored twice.

Good morning! I'll be bringing you all the latest royal news as it happens this morning.

On the royal agenda today, we have King Charles and Queen Camilla continuing Royal Week in Scotland with the monarch visiting Jedburgh for the Jethard Callant's Festival, which is one of the world's oldest equestrian festivals. 

Princess Anne will be attending a reception at Dorothy House Hospice care for its 50th anniversary in Bradford-Upon-Avon and a dinner to mark 10 years of the Veteran's Foundation at the Honourable Artillery Company in London.

The Duchess of Gloucester will be in the royal box at Wimbledon and we will post pictures as soon as she's spotted. Check out who was in the royal box yesterday during the day's matches. 

We're also keeping our ear to the ground as it could be graduation day for Lady Louise Windsor, who is leaving St Andrews University.

In case you missed it, Prince William was quick to share his congratulations to the England football team after their 2-1 win last night against the The Democratic Republic of the Congo.

On this day in 2005, Prince William donned a tracksuit to join in with a training session for the British & Irish Lions rugby union team at Trust Porirua Park in Wellington, New Zealand.

The prince was 23 years old when this snap was taken, looking handsome in his bright red Adidas jacket and black jogging bottoms. 

The royal is a big rugby fan. He's the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) and has regularly attended both the men's and women's fixtures.

While Prince Harry's trip to the UK still hangs in the balance, it has come to light that his safety is in jeopardy due to terrorist threats towards him in the UK. ITV News has revealed that Prince Harry is the focus of six terrorist plots, five of which originated in the UK, according to a highly sensitive security report seen by the programme. 

The Sussexes are cheduled to be in Britain for five days, with the Duke and Duchess conducting several engagements connected to Harry's Invictus Games. It was reported in June 2026 that Harry and Meghan would also bring their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet; the family was due to stay at a mix of private and royal residences. However, it now transpires that they are unsure whether to bring the children due to security. Also, their accommodation is yet to be confirmed. 

The royal couple do employe their own security personnel and they have accompanied him overseas in the past, but their report acknowledges that they would be forbidden from carrying guns in the UK and it concludes that "UK authorities are much better positioned to provide him with more comprehensive protection”.

Congratulations are in order! Lady Louise Windsor has graduated from St Andrew's University in Scotland with an English degree. The 22-year-old look radiant as she stepped on stage to collect her certificate. A white shirt could be seen peeping out from underneath her traditional graduation gown. 

Prince William and Princess Kate also attended the same university - and William managed to have a private experience there thanks to an argreement. Dr Brian Lang was the Principal and Vice Chancellor of the university during William's time there, and speaking exclusively to HELLO! he explained how the university had an agreement with the press, so that William could go about enjoying his time like any other student. 

He said: "Andrew Neil, the Lord Rector of the university, being a very experienced newspaper man, helped us negotiate a deal with the British press, whereupon they would leave William alone in return for a photo opportunity once a semester," Dr Lang said. "And on the whole, that worked."

The Princess of Wales, Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), has arrived at The Championships, Wimbledon. The royal was a vision in a blue suit, which stood out perfectly against the whites and greens of the iconic location. Kate pulled her long locks back into a ponytail for the occasion, showing off a pair of sapphire earrings. 

On arrival, Her Royal Highness stopped to visit The Queue, spending time meeting attendees who have queued since very early this morning.Throughout the day, Kate will meet children from Shine CameraClub, a creative photography programme, who will be taking pictures around Wimbledon. Finally, Kate will watch a match on one of the ground’s Outer Courts - so no royal box appearance today. 

However, we are still expecting to see the Duchess of Gloucester at some point. Stay tuned!

A Rolls-Royce used by Queen Elizabeth II is set to be on public display on the forecourt of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of the monarch in Scotland, from this Saturday 4 July, as part of celebrations marking the centenary of her birth.

The car, a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Chassis, will be on show to all visitors to the Palace, with no extra charge until Thursday 10 September.

Royal Week is currently taking place at the property so it is closed to the public, but Saturday marks the day that it will reopen.

This year, King Charles made headlines as he decided to open his late mother Queen Elizabeth II's top-secret, private apartments to the public. These beautifully preserved rooms, which she shared with Prince Philip, offer an intimate, surprisingly relatable look into her 70-year reign.

Included is a sweet sitting room with red sofas, her personal writing desk displaying iconic red government dispatch boxes, and even a favourite stuffed bear positioned exactly where she always requested it.

Princess Caroline of Monaco has attended the opening of Victor Brauner's "L'Aventure Magique"  at Villa Paloma yesterday, which is one of the Principality's leading exhibition spaces. She was accompanied by her daughters, Charlotte Casiraghi and Alexandra of Hanover, and all three put on stunning sartorial displays. Caroline kept it simple in a monochrome outfit, meanwhile, Charlotte opted for a shirt dress and Alexandra was bold in a bright dress dress. So chic!

King Charles has delighted adults and children alike in his visit to Jedburgh during Royal Week in Scotland. Charles will be staying at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which serves as the official Scottish residence of the British monarch and sits at the historic base of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile. The palace is the focal point for the royal family’s annual "Holyrood Week" (or Royal Week), during which the King and Queen celebrate Scottish culture, host up to 8,000 guests for garden parties, and partake in traditions such as the Ceremony of the Keys. The Princess of Wales has also made a surprise visit to Wimbledon, where she's delighted tennis fans waiting in the famous Queue.

The King started a centuries-old traditional handball game during his visit to Jedburgh, as part of Royal Week in Scotland.

The annual game of hand ba’, which has been played in the Borders town since 1704, was one of a number of events that marked Charles’s visit on Thursday.

The King, who was dressed in an immaculate grey suit, started the game in the town’s main square by tossing a leather ball into the air above a group of local men.

He then took a step back and looked on as the competitors proceeded to wrestle for the ball in a heap on the ground in front of him.

The full-contact game sees men and boys split into two teams based on where they live in the town – the Uppies and the Doonies.

The King’s visit came during the town’s annual Jethart Callant festival, which is part of the "common ridings" held across the Borders each year.

The Princess of Wales had the best reactions as she attended Wimbledon today!

Much like her husband Prince William can't hold back his emotions whenever he's at the football, Kate was seen getting very into the game, and she's clearly very passionate about tennis. 

The royal watched Katie Swan of Great Britain and Madison Keys of the United States alongside Andy Murray and Anne Keothavong in the second round match of the Ladies' Singles. 

And she was on the edge of her seat the whole way through, clasping her hands over her mouth and taking off her sunglasses to get a better look!

The princess walked down the corridor leading to the court with former world number one, Sir Andy.

The pair have been friends for many years, with Kate sharing a touching tribute to the tennis star after he played his final Wimbledon match in 2024.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's name has been removed from a London landmark, marking another honour to be taken away from him. 

The former Duke of York, 66, is living in exile on his brother King Charles's Sandringham Estate after being ousted from the royal family following his connections to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. 

Now, the Duke of York's Theatre on St Martin's Lane in London's West End will be rebranded and permanently renamed the Tom Stoppard Theatre. 

Announced by ATG Entertainment, the renaming pays tribute to the celebrated playwright who passed away in November 2025. 

The playhouse was originally named in 1895 to honor the future King George V rather than Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who held the title for years. 

Andrew himself was stripped of his remaining titles last October by King Charles and was ordered to leave Royal Lodge in Windsor.
