Prince Harry has offered a rare insight into fatherhood and his private family life during an appearance on The Celebrity Traitors star Joe Marler's new podcast episode on Monday.

While Harry and his wife Meghan Markle tend to keep their life with their two young kids in Montecito out of the limelight, the Duke of Sussex spoke briefly on Joe Marler Will See You Now about Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, and revealed how they support him on particularly difficult days.

During a discussion about dealing with trauma, podcast host Joe opened up about his own mental struggles. "Big factors for me that have helped me recently are my kids and their ability to be resilient," the former rugby union player, 36, who has four kids with his wife Daisy said.

The athlete said he had "learned" from his kids who he credited as being "way more resilient". "They've taught me to be more resilient in the sense of their ability to fall down, hurt themselves, and then move on. It's like a next job mentality that they've got."

"Yes, I think you're absolutely right," Harry agreed. "And also, kids remind you not to take yourself too seriously as well," he added.

"But I think yes, the resilience of kids is amazing, and the way that they view life is so incredibly refreshing. If a day is hard, one thing I will do is always squeeze my kids that extra extra tight."

Harry's sweet comment about fatherhood

Last week, Harry returned to the UK to mark the one-year countdown of the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next year. While back in the UK, the Duke of Sussex had a busy week of engagements.

During a visit to Scotty's Little Soldiers summer festival at Maxstoke Castle, Warwickshire, the royal made another rare comment about his two children while taking part in a Q&A event. Harry was asked how he deals with difficult days by Poppy, nine, who lost her father, Able Seaman Daniel Turnbull, in July 2020 from leukaemia.

"You know what, sometimes it’s just a difficult day. It's not always possible to laugh, but my dog makes me laugh, my children make me laugh and if I need to laugh I'll probably put something really funny on the television," Harry replied.

Harry was accompanied to the UK by his wife and kids who joined him for a family reunion with his father, King Charles. Harry travelled to Charles' Gloucestershire residence, Highgrove House, where he was hosted by the monarch and Queen Camilla.
