Happy birthday, Queen Camilla!

King Charles's wife looked radiant in her official birthday portrait, taken by Getty royal photographer Chris Jackson in the State Drawing Room of Hillsborough Castle, Northern Ireland, last month.

In the photos, Camilla was beaming, wearing a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch that was once presented to the late Queen Elizabeth at the Birmingham Spring Fair in February 1977.

She will be spending her birthday privately at Highgrove, HELLO! understands.

Prince William And Kate led the birthday wishes on Friday, writing on their official social media accounts: "Wishing Her Majesty the Queen a very happy birthday!"

Camilla and King Charles have been married since 2005, but met many years previously in 1970 at a polo match.

After briefly dating, they remained friends and went on to marry other people, with Charles's wedding to Princess Diana taking place in 1981. Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles and they share two children, Laura Lopes and Tom Parker Bowles.

Camilla was officially crowned alongside King Charles during their coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey in 2023.

She has been by her husband's side since his cancer diagnosis in 2024, for which he continues to undergo treatment.

Queen Camilla's new birthday project

The Queen has marked her birthday with a renewed commitment to supporting children's literacy and has announced an exciting new project.

Every child in Year 6 in the UK will be gifted a copy of Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell for Christmas, in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, of which the Queen is patron.

Each book will have a royal stamp on the cover and a personal message from Camilla inside, reading: "Impossible Creatures, by one of my favourite writers, is a brilliant fantasy that will introduce you to a host of mythical friends and terrifying enemies... and I hope that you will love it as much as I do."

The royal has long had a passion for reading and has made it her mission to get those she meets excited about books.

She founded her Reading Room book club during the Covid-19 lockdown in January 2021, sharing her literary recommendations.

Two years later, it was formally launched as a registered charity called The Queen's Reading Room and now hosts an annual literary festival and podcast.

She is also the Patron of several UK literacy charities, including the National Literacy Trust, BookTrust and CoramBeanstalk.

HELLO!'s Royal and Features Contributor Tracy Schaverien said previously: "The Queen has been an avid reader her whole life, and she has made it her mission to share that with others.

"She's especially passionate about the benefits of reading for children - something that's apparent during her regular visits to libraries, where she often sits down to read aloud to groups of youngsters."

Camilla's best highlights from being 78

Last year, Camilla was pictured smiling in front of a meadow and leaning on a gate at Raymill, her home in Wiltshire.

The picture was taken by photographer Chris Jackson and it was understood she was spending the day privately.

Her total number of engagements in 2025 was 228 – showing that she has stepped up for the royal family when needed.

She has been busier than ever over the past year, taking part in the high-profile US state visit with US President Donald Trump in April.

Last week, she was present at the reunion of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet with their grandfather, the King.
