Meghan Markle's MasterChef co-star has come to her defence about reports of "frustration" on set.

Poh Ling Yeow, MasterChef's runner-up turned host, appeared on Australian radio station Nathan, Nat and Shaun to put the rumours to rest, saying the group had a "lovely" time with the Duchess.

She said: "If I got a buck for every time someone asked me about Meghan, I'd be a billionaire!

"We had such a lovely time with her, and she was a model citizen! Honestly, no fuss, hung out with us, didn't scurry away into her green room. She was engaged with the whole process and knows her food. Nothing to complain about at all.

Meghan's co-star has addressed reports about her appearance on MasterChef

On the podcast, a headline from Australian paper New Idea was shown, titled "Meghan's MasterChef Meltdown", claiming that "Poh was very upset".

Another report by News.com.au, prior to the episode airing, had claimed Meghan's team were left "very frustrated" by her introduction to the show, when she was introduced as "royalty".

Poh branded the claims "ridiculous", adding: "It’s the first time anything like that’s kind of happened to me, so it’s been very eye-opening for me to see what she cops every day. It’s really full-on."

Moment Meghan was introduced as royalty on MasterChef

Poh introduced Meghan as "royalty" and the "Duchess of Sussex" as she surprised delighted contestants during the episode filmed back in April during her tour of Australia with Prince Harry

In a teaser video of her entrance, Poh said: "We've had royalty in the MasterChef kitchen before, but no one like this! All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia - the Duchess of Sussex!"

Why was Meghan Markle on MasterChef?

Though appearing on a famous cooking competition may seem unexpected, it actually ties into many of Meghan's interests.

She previously starred in her own cookery show on Netflix, With Love, Meghan. She's also launched various cooking products, such as jams, with her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and regularly shares her culinary tips in her newsletters.

In fact, her upcoming film Cookie Queens, for which she serves as executive producer, also links into the culinary theme!

On MasterChef, Meghan revealed her passionate love of cooking, asking contestants to select from a range of lemons, macadamia nuts, Australian honey and Brussels sprouts to cook with.

She even revealed that her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are fans of the latter!
