Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially returned to the UK six years after they fled to the US. According to The Telegraph, the couple touched down at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday lunchtime, and it is believed that their children are with them as they return to live in the UK.
The family arrived via a private jet that can fit up to 13 passengers, and overnight there's a special configuration featuring a double bed and for singles, so passengers can travel in complete comfort.
Other lavish features include plush leather seating, two spacious restrooms with branded amenities and a sofa for relaxing while in the air.
© Getty ImagesThe plane has space for 15 suitcases, and it is likely that the Sussexes will be shipping their belongings in addition to this, to start their new life back across the pond.
An international flight from LA to the UK can come with a six-figure sum in the region of £150,000-£200,000, so this would have been a considerable expense for the couple.
The Sussexes' freedom flight
Their flight out of the UK six years ago was also via private jet, a clip in the 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, revealed. The spacious plane was big enough to cater to their pet dogs, who had ample space to wander around and cosy up in dog beds. Harry, Meghan and her mother, Doria Ragland, were all seated in comfy private booths.
It was also reported that the Sussexes chose to fly via private jet once again when they came to London for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022; a decision they likely made for ease and comfort given it was their children's first long-haul flight to the UK.
What's next for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the UK?
It's unknown where the first stop will be for the Sussex family. They could be reuniting with Harry's uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, at Althorp, where they visited earlier this summer. Or perhaps it's straight to their new accommodation, which is being kept under wraps for security reasons, but it is believed to be in the Cotswolds area.
