Meghan Markle has officially launched her first holiday collection – including a stunning advent calendar inspired by her Montecito home.
But the Duchess of Sussex's latest promotional images for her As Ever lifestyle brand sparked some confusion on social media due to an "optical illusion" in one of the photos.
In one picture, Meghan was seen opening doors on the new calendar, which is a collaboration with Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés containing 25 "handcrafted chocolates".
However, the lighting and shadows on the hand resting on the product made it look as though she had "six fingers".
While some fans queried whether it was a "Photoshop fail" or "editing" error, others pointed out that you could still see five fingernails.
An optical illusion saw the middle finger obscuring the ring finger, which made it seem at first glance that an extra finger was in place.
The confusion was soon cleared up, with people explaining that no error had taken place, and it was merely a trick of the light.
Meghan launches her first holiday collection
The Duchess has launched her first "Holiday Collection" in the run-up to Christmas, including a hostess basket and a set of As Ever playing cards.
After unveiling her £112 luxury advent calendar last week, Meghan’s new products will also include a selection of three chocolate bars, in Ginger Lemon, Lavender Honey and Hibiscus Rose flavours.
The Duchess’s lifestyle brand revealed that "The Holiday Collection: Chapter One" would be launched on 6 October, with the added tagline "Merriment in the Making".
It said: "The holidays have a way of reminding us how much joy can be found in the moments that make up a life.
"They invite us to gather a little closer, to make things with our hands, to set the table with care, and to give generously to the people we love."
Meghan's products will include a wicker hostess basket filled with two scented candles, three jams, three types of herbal tea, and a pot of flower sprinkles.
The two sets of playing cards, in a pale green box, which are edged with a gold border and feature As Ever’s palm tree with two hummingbird birds logo, are called "The Keepsake Double-Deck Parlour Card Set".
Royal social media errors
With such a big audience and constant royal news, it's no surprise that fans occasionally note hard-to-miss errors on social media.
In June, Buckingham Palace made a rare switch-up with a printed error in the court circular when it recorded that James, the 18-year-old Earl of Wessex, attended a Regimental Gathering at Somme Barracks on Saturday.
However, the engagement was actually carried out by his father, Prince Edward, who is the Colonel of the Scots Guards.
They previously shared the wrong picture of the late Queen for her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
In 2024, Kensington Palace released an official statement in response to concerns over an image shared by the Princess of Wales for Mother's Day.
Royal sources said the Princess had made "minor adjustments" to the image, while she shared that she "occasionally experiments" with editing.
