Glorious Greece has long been one of Kate Hudson’s favourite destinations; she has been known to call it her “happy place”. In early July, the star – who was recently spotted filming romantic comedy Hello & Paris with Javier Bardem in New York – jetted off to Greece to stay at one of her favourite hotels, the Athens Riviera retreat One&Only Aesthesis.

Kate shared pictures at the luxury resort with her 18.7 million followers on Instagram, captioning it the “perfect start to summer”. In one snap, the down-to-earth celeb is reading by the pool with daughter Rani; in another, she gives us a sneak peek at her super luxurious suite with panoramic sea views and glittering infinity pool.

The Running Point star, 47, has been a fan of this exclusive family-friendly retreat – set on a forested private peninsula far from the bustle of Athens – since it opened in 2023. With the first Guerlain Spa in Greece, 1960s-styled bungalows and private villas, and sumptuous fine dining options, we love it too.

Hudson, who holidayed with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa, and her children – Ryder, 22, Bingham, 14, and Rani, 7 – also shared pictures of herself in a bikini as she swam in the crystal-clear waters and lazed on a yacht near her mother Goldie Hawn’s private estate that she shares with husband, Kurt Russell, in Skiathos.

It was the video of her famous mother that set the internet on fire, showing the 80-year-old dancing with a bottle of wine.

“I will be Kate Hudson in my next life!” one fan enthused on Facebook.

But why wait that long? Here are our insider’s tips for how to holiday like Kate Hudson in Skiathos this summer.

Book a celebrity-worthy Skiathos Villa

Sadly, mere mortals can’t stay at Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s private family villa, with its exclusive-use beach in the low-key seaside village of Achladies, a few miles south-west of Skiathos Town. So instead, stay a few doors down at the aptly-named Villa Serene. This eight-bedroom (and nine-bathroom) property has its own infinity pool and you can also follow the villa’s private, pine-tree-shaded path for exclusive access to Achladies’ blonde-sand beach below. All this celebrity sparkle comes at a celebrity cost, however, with pricing from £4,530 per week.

If your budget is a little more modest, try the two-bed Villa Mitzelos. This property may not be as chic (the interiors are rather dated), but it costs from just £1,070 per week and has its own pool snuggled in greenery – all within easy reach of Skiathos Town’s Venetian fortress, traditional tavernas and lively nightlife.

Sunbathe at Kate’s favorite hidden beaches

Not far from Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s summer estate is Diamandi Beach, a secret golden-sand-dusted cove with a feet-in-the-water beach bar made for sipping those sunset cocktails. Kate has been spotted plunging into sparkling turquoise waters here.

Beyond Kate's favourite haunts are other beautiful beaches, such as Ligaries which is located in the northwestern side of the island

The actress also seems to love Banana Beach, which is actually two coves – Big Banana and Little Banana – named for the shape and colour of the incredibly soft sand. With its watersports centre and summer party atmosphere, Big Banana is the place to rent a jet ski or dance in the sand. Meanwhile its more peaceful sister, Little Banana, is best if you just want to chill on a lounger in the sun all day.

Try some of the world's healthiest cuisine

Greek food is known as some of the world’s healthiest, so it’s no surprise that the actress – who recently sang about “Feta, rosé and a boat ride” in a catchy little song she improvised for Instagram – enjoys eating the island’s traditional dishes.

She has often been spotted enjoying catch-of-the-day dishes at Elivi resort’s exclusive Nest Greek Fish Restaurant. Another favourite family hangout is the secluded fish taverna Tarsanas on Kechria Beach, where they serve salads sourced from their own kitchen garden along with local treats, including Skiathos’ amygdalota almond sweets.

Hudson has also been spotted at Olive Thea, a hilltop taverna with spectacular sunset views over Skiathos Town (and the wave-ruffled Aegean Sea beyond). Here, I recommend ordering lightly grilled fresh squid, tender kleftiko – lamb slow-cooked in parchment – and Kate’s favourite, of course: Greek salad topped with fresh herb-sprinkled feta.

Shop like a star

While on holiday in Skiathos, Hudson tends to be seen rocking her signature boho Mediterranean aesthetic –this summer, her look included a wide-brimmed straw hat, string bikinis, a big straw beach bag and stripy trousers.

Hit the shops in the winding whitewashed alleys of Skiathos Town

If you’re keen to mimic the star’s signature boho-chic style, make a beeline for the winding whitewashed alleys of Skiathos Town. First stop is Theros Skiathos, where you should shop for one of the Greek brand Christian Zen’s kaftan-style flowing dresses. Pair it with one of A&Z Handmade Creations’ unique colourful crochet clutch bags.
