Jack Schlossberg shares scathing reaction to Ryan Murphy's Love Story

The son of Caroline Kennedy was not impressed by the show, portraying the love story between his uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy

Ryan Murphy's Love Story, the first season in the new anthology series and the latest adaptation of his American Story franchise, shed new light on the romance between American icons John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

The son of former President of the United States John F. Kennedy and his style trendsetter partner has the internet incredibly hooked, and the critics too, already boasting an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. But one of its biggest detractors comes from within the family.

Kennedy scion Jack Schlossberg, the son of Caroline Kennedy and the late JFK Jr.'s nephew, shared his own take on the show during an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings on March 1, and didn't hold back.

"Grotesque"

When asked about the adaptation during his conversation, which stars Paul Anthony Kelly as his uncle and Sarah Pidgeon as his aunt, Jack, 33, responded: "If you want to know someone who's never met anyone in my family, knows nothing about us, talk to Ryan Murphy."

"I would just want people who do watch the show to watch it with one letter in mind, and that's a capital 'F' for fiction," he continued. "The guy knows nothing about what he's talking about, and he's making a ton of money on a grotesque display of someone else's life."

Jack concluded with: "If Ryan Murphy really cares so much about the Kennedy family, my uncle John, maybe he would try to do something about getting Trump out of power," further claiming: "He's making money. This is not a documentary. And I'll leave it at that."

Bringing family into politics

Also in his interview, Jack spoke extensively about the line between his family and politics specifically being very blurry. His grandfather was president, and now six decades later, he's running from New York's 12th congressional district for the upcoming House of Representatives election.

"My grandmother wasn't elected; my Uncle John wasn't elected," he noted. "People feel absolute free [rein] to say whatever they want about them. So, I'm gonna throw it right back at you."

"Because you know what? The time is not now to hold back, sit on your hands and say, 'Hmm, okay. Well, why don't we just play it safe?' Absolutely not! We're gonna get these people out of here."

"Family is complicated"

Jack, who went viral first for his funny social media clips before turning to political commentating and then running himself, also spoke about the larger Kennedy family in general (which also includes current secretary of health and human services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has come under fire for spreading medical misinformation, including from his cousin Jack).

"For me, when you talk about the Kennedy family, it's a lot of people I don't know," Jack shared. "When you talk about what 'family' is, it's me, my sisters, my parents. We're a unit, and we're really close."

"When they say the Kennedy family, you think of those photos with, like, a cast of thousands. And you guys usually aren't in those photos? Yeah, we're not really in those photos. That's a lotta, I mean, I don't wanna… it's all good. But you know, family is complicated."
