Halle Berry took print-maximalism to a whole new level as she stepped out in a daring dress in New York City on May 28. The actress wore a striking three-piece from Alexander McQueen that boasted a floral black-and-red print.

The ensemble featured a strapless top with an asymmetric hem, paired with a matching maxi skirt. The skirt showcased a sheer lace panel that swept diagonally across the leg. The look was completed with a coordinating jacquard cardigan draped over Halle’s shoulders and a pair of patent black leather heels. The peep-toe shoes featured silver metal aglets and waxed front laces, along with red insoles and a sculpted curved heel.

Halle wore a pair of black sunglasses and her hair was styled into a voluminous bob cut with chic curtain bangs.

Halle's engagement news

Back in February, Halle announced her engagement to her longtime partner, Van Hunt. Halle and Van confirmed they were officially dating on 12 September 2020 and made their red carpet-debut at the Oscars on 25 April 2021. Prior to her romance with the record producer, the actress was previously married three times: to David Justice from 1993 to 1997, to Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005 and to Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2016.

Jewellery expert Nilesh Rakholia spoke to us about Halle's ring and estimated its worth to be around "six-figures". "Halle Berry's selection of the architectural, grid-set band is an excellent illustration of how an engagement ring may serve as a symbol of personal identity and history," they shared. "This is an intentional break from typical Hollywood glamour, with the jewels serving as a structural statement of self-assurance rather than simply a sign of romance."

Nilesh continued: "The ring's main attraction is the striking contrast of a 1.5- to 2-carat Old European Cut diamond against a disciplined mosaic of dark accent stones. The focus is solely on the contrast between the diamond's historical 'fire' and the geometric accuracy of the surrounding grid. The use of deep blue sapphires or onyx emphasises the richness of 18k yellow gold, a combination that typifies the 'Retro' period's preference for hefty, substantial forms."

"The thick gold band and rough cluster setting create a structured frame that immediately indicates great value and an unwillingness to conform to current, delicate trends. This sort of mid-century design indicates a historical love for one-of-a-kind heirlooms, shifting away from mass-market luxury and toward an item that feels both curated and ancient."
