Shakira is in a league of her own in 2026, almost four years to the day she and longtime partner Gerard Piqué announced their split after 12 years together.

The "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" singer, 49, and the Spanish former football player, 39, started dating in 2010, welcoming son Milan in 2013, followed by son Sasha in 2015.

However, following an alleged infidelity on Gerard's part, the couple announced their decision to separate. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength, experiencing a resurgence in chart success with hits like "Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53" (a diss track aimed at her ex), a record-breaking world tour, and an upcoming performance at the FIFA World Cup Final.

"Behind every experience in life, there's always a lesson, and we have to be grateful for all those lessons, even for the people that leave you with scars," she told People in a new interview. "Because they just make us better."

The singer was on the cover of the magazine's latest issue, particularly wowing fans on social media with the lead shot, one of her in a sheer pink feathered robe that was tied in a way that showed off her toned figure, paired with highlighter pink pants.

"Radiating joy," one fan commented on her shot, with another saying: "The one and only, the global superstar," and a third adding: "Gorgeous, my queen!"

The Colombian icon may be looking and feeling good, but the one place that isn't manifesting is in her love life. And that's all down to a lack of time on her part. "I'm not thinking of future partners," she told the publication. "I'm just thinking of raising my kids," then joking: "Maybe when they're older."

She continued: "Right now, I'm just so busy with my career and my life. There's really no time or space for anything else, I don't have a social life." Shakira joked that while she did say "se pasa rico soltera," aka "single women have a lot of fun" in her 2026 song "Soltera," she is not currently that single woman.

"It's true, but not so much for me right now, because I'm just a busy bee," she said with a laugh. Further in her conversation, she especially expresses her gratitude for her two sons, who she says got her through the hardship of the breakup with their father.

"When your world collapses, you have to get up and pay the bills and still prepare breakfast and take your kids to school. Life needs to go on," the "Dai Dai" singer noted. "Motherhood makes you strong."

"The moment I became a mother, I saw life through a different perspective."

"The moment I became a mother, I saw life through a different perspective, and my kids are not only the best thing that happened to me, but I've learned so much from them every day," the mom-of-two added. "Through those challenging moments, I discovered how resilient we all are."
