Love was worth the wait for Julianna Margulies.
The E.R. alum was 39 years old when she met her husband, Kieth Lieberthal, and has spoken candidly about being ready for a loving, mature relationship "at that age."
It wasn't long after her chance encounter with her future husband that she realized he was the one, and the rest is history. Learn all about the couple and their family below.
Julianna and Keith's love story
Julianna and Keith met in late 2005 thanks to a mutual acquaintance, at an agent's dinner party she "wasn't going to go to," she previously shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. However it wasn't until six months later that they really connected, when the same agent invited her at the last minute to join them for dinner.
"I was like, 'I'll come for a drink,'" she recalled, adding: "I was about to start a Broadway show, so I didn't want to stay out late," seemingly referring to her Broadway debut, Festen, which ran from April to May 2006. "Famous last words. I went, and there was Keith. And Keith had gone to Dartmouth, and this agent had been his R.A., and he just happened to be at this dinner."
From then on, things "kept getting better and better and that was it."
They tied the knot on November 10, 2007, when Julianna, who wore a Narciso Rodríguez gown (the designer behind Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's iconic wedding dress) was seven months pregnant. She gave birth to their first and only child, son Kieran Lindsay Lieberthal, in January 2008.
Speaking with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 for her OWN program Super Soul Sunday, Julianna said: "I waited! I waited. I was 39 when I met Keith, and I was ready to have an adult relationship at that age and not bring all my baggage to it, so I could really see him for who he was. And here's what made it work, I never pretended to be anything I wasn't."
