Nicole Richie's daughter, Kate Madden, just proved that when it comes to her sartorial choices, she has inherited her mother's flair for bold fashion.
The 18-year-old took to Instagram on June 19 to share a series of stylish photographs from her trip to Paris. The first snap captured Kate posing in the streets, dressed in a black lace bikini dress. The garment featured an asymmetric neckline with a subtle slit on the leg and was layered over a simple black bra. The next photo featured Nicole's daughter seated in a floral suede armchair at an upscale restaurant, gazing at the camera.
Kate's luscious dark locks were left down in a sleek, straight style while her makeup oozed glam, courtesy of a smoky eye and a nude lip. "#paris," she simply penned in the caption.
Nicole's daughter was born Harlow Winter Kate, but recently changed her name on social media to just her middle name, Kate. Back in 2008, Nicole and Joel Madden opened up to People about why they named their daughter Harlow. "I wanted a hippie name and he wanted a more biblical name," she told the outlet, and explained her husband is a fan of actress Jean Harlow while she liked the model Shalom Harlow. The Good Charlotte rocker added: "Harlow's cool because it feels like a classic name."
Kate Madden's graduation
Kate's trip to Paris comes after she graduated from high school in June. The 18-year-old wore a red cap and gown and was joined at the celebration by both of her parents.
Prior to the big day, Kate graced the red carpet alongside her mom at the premiere of Stop! That! Train! in Los Angeles. Kate wore a strapless black leather mini dress that perfectly coordinated with her mom's playful full-length navy-and-white polka-dot dress with a matching headscarf.
Nicole and Kate's rare appearance was the first time the duo had graced the red carpet together since April 2024, when they were joined by Nicole's husband, Joel Madden, and their son, Sparrow, at a film premiere.
"They know everything I did," Nicole previously admitted of her kids. "I knew before I had them that I was going to have to be transparent with them about who I was. And I've actually found freedom in that. I didn’t want my kids having some big discovery about me. I've always been very open and honest with my kids and hope that they are open and honest with me."
