Olympic gold medalist Bode Miller was arrested this month on two drug-related, misdemeanor charges.
While traveling in Idaho, the 48-year-old alpine skier was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and another for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents. He was released on a $5,000 cash bond and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
HELLO! has reached out to Bode's representatives for comment.
The skier addressed his arrest on Instagram writing: "I was pulled over for accelerating while passing another vehicle on a highway in Idaho. My friend, who was traveling with me, had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe in his possession which I was unaware of. We fully cooperated with the officer. I am hopeful the misdemeanor charges will be dropped after the facts are reviewed."
Bode is one of the most decorated alpine skiers in history. He officially retired from competitive ski racing in October 2017, but stays involved in the sport through broadcasting as an Olympic analyst.
Outside of skiing, Bode is married to Morgan Beck Miller and is a dad of eight, Dace, 18, Nate, 12, Nash, 10, Easton, seven, Asher and Aksel, six, and Scarlet, four. His life is marked by heartache, from his recent drug charges to the tragic drowning of his 19-month-old daughter, Emeline.
The tragic death of Bode's daughter
In June 2018, Bode and Morgan lost their 19-month-old daughter after she drowned in a swimming pool at a neighbor's house in Orange County, California.
Morgan took her three young children to a neighbor's house while Bode went to his older daughter, Neesyn's softball game. While she chatted with her friends, the kids ran around. Morgan remembered Emeline walking between her and the guest bedroom.
"And, all of the sudden, it was just too quiet for me," Morgan said in an interview with Today. "We were mid-conversation, and I just stood up, and I turned, and I walked right to where the boys were, and I said, 'Where's Emmy?' And before Nate could respond, I turned around the door that leads to the backyard — that was closed — had this tiny sliver of light coming through the side."
She continued through tears: "And my heart sank, and I opened the door, and she was floating in the pool. And I ran, and I jumped in."
After the emergency responders performed CPR, Emeline was unable to be resuscitated, and died the next day, June 10.
Since their daughter's tragic death, the parents have become tireless advocates for water safety and drowning prevention. In May 2026, Morgan and Bode joined Savannah Guthrie on Today to discuss water safety education for parents.
"If you can crawl, you must be able to float, if you can walk, you must be able to swim," Morgan said on the morning show. She added: "There's not a day that goes by that I don't pray for the opportunity to go back to that day and make it different. But now we have this opportunity to make other parents' days different."
