Eva Green was reportedly rushed to the hospital after an accident while filming the third season of Wednesday.

The French actress, best known for playing Daniel Craig's Bond love interest Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, has joined the smash-hit Netflix series for its upcoming season. However, her first weeks on set took an unexpected turn after she reportedly injured her leg while filming near Dublin.

The 45-year-old was treated in hospital after the incident, with production temporarily halted while she received medical attention.

No further details about the nature of the accident or Eva's injury have been publicly confirmed, and neither the actress nor Netflix has commented on the report.

The Sun first reported the news. HELLO! contacted Netflix and Eva's representatives for comment but had not received a response by publication time.

Eva is set to play the mysterious Aunt Ophelia in the upcoming season, a character whose connection to the Addams family is expected to bring a darker new layer to the supernatural drama.

The glamorous star has worked with Tim Burton previously

Her casting marks another collaboration with Tim Burton, after the pair worked together on Dark Shadows, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Dumbo. Eva has long been known for her flair for gothic roles, making her a natural fit for the shadowy world of Nevermore Academy.

The actress joins an increasingly starry line-up of new additions for season three, including Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey, St Elmo's Fire star Andrew McCarthy, Ted Lasso actor James Lance and Stranger Things favourite Winona Ryder.

Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer have also joined the cast, alongside returning stars Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers and Joanna Lumley.

Wednesday remains one of Netflix's biggest global successes, with its first season becoming the streamer's most-watched English-language series. The show follows Jenna's deadpan teenager Wednesday Addams as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy while uncovering sinister mysteries.

Season two left viewers with plenty of unanswered questions, including the fate of Wednesday's best friend Enid and a chilling premonition that put Wednesday herself in danger.

The hit show's third season is highly anticipated

Creators and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have promised that the new season will introduce fresh faces, new teachers and more long-buried Addams family secrets.

"We welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets," they said when production began. "Don't say you weren't warned."

Wednesday Season 3 is currently in production, although Netflix has not yet announced a release date.
