Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo's divorce may have come as a shock to their fans, and the latter's next move might just be taking things in another surprising direction.
Jelly, 41, (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) and Bunnie, 46, (real name Alisa DeFord) tied the knot in 2016. But on May 18, it was revealed that the singer had filed for divorce from his podcast host wife after nearly a decade together.
The pair have since opened up about what caused the split, but maintain that there is still love between them and they remain close friends. And it definitely looks like Bunnie's finally moving on.
Bunnie Xo's new post-divorce move
On her Instagram Stories over the weekend, the Dumb Blonde podcast host shared a screenshot of her acceptance letter from Arizona State University, writing alongside it: "Dr. Xo loading?"
While she hasn't posted anything since to update fans on where she stands with her collegiate journey, the move comes less than two months after Jelly filed for divorce, while the couple are also in the midst of trying for a baby.
Bunnie and Jelly's baby journey
The couple were incredibly open about trying for a child while they were together. Jelly has two children from previous relationships, a daughter named Bailee and a son named Noah.
In an episode of her podcast during which she spoke extensively about the split for the first time, Bunnie dubbed the exes "the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered," and noted that they'd still be pursuing IVF and were still intent on having a baby together. "We're going to co-parent together," she explained. "J is my best friend. Like, this isn't what you guys think this is. Nobody cheated on the other person. It's literally just we served our purpose for each other."
She did also candidly share the toll the failed embryo transfers and hormone therapy had on their marriage. "It is not a beautiful journey. It wrecked me," she said of IVF, noting that she herself had become a shell and her then-husband was a "nightmare" to be around.
What caused Jelly and Bunnie's split?
The social media personality explained that their decision to separate stemmed from a particularly difficult argument, one that was a surprise to them both because they almost never argued.
"So, he would be holding things in. I would be holding things in, and that's a recipe for disaster," she continued. "On Mother's Day, we had a little bit of an argument, which I don't think the details are necessary. And, in that argument, I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and said, 'Well, then file the [expletive] divorce papers."
The "Son of a Sinner" singer himself later confirmed during a concert that what Bunnie said on the podcast was "the truth," adding: "Me and my wife are best friends, we will always be best friends. I will love her. She will probably be the only woman I'll ever love the way I loved her."
