Savannah Guthrie is keeping her head up.
The TODAY anchor has had a painful few months, February kicking off a desperate search for her mother Nancy Guthrie, who was kidnapped from her home on January 31, and has yet to be found.
The veteran NBC star returned to the show on April 6, and has since been balancing the ongoing investigation into her mother's disappearance in Arizona with settling back into her life in New York City.
Savannah had a reason to smile on Sunday, July 5, as she and husband Michael Feldman stepped out for a FIFA World Cup game in Met Life Stadium in New Jersey, to watch a match between Norway and Brazil.
Savannah's TODAY co-anchor Craig Melvin revealed the outing, which he was a part of, on the Monday, July 6 installment of TODAY's 3rd Hour, sharing a selfie featuring Savannah, Michael, himself, and his wife Lindsay Czarniak.
In the photo, taken by Michael, he appears with an excited look on his wife, while Savannah is next to him smiling, wearing a red and white floral dress. Lindsay is next to her wearing a navy and white striped tank top with jeans, and Craig is in the far end, wearing a printed, navy short-sleeve button down.
"One of the things that was striking … the Norwegian fans, they brought it man," said of the game, during which Norway kicked Brazil out of contention in a 1-2 game.
Asked if he did the Norwegians' viral Viking Row along with them, Craig hinted that he did, noting that he, Lindsay, Savannah and Michael "deliberately stayed until the very end" to watch the celebrations.
"I had no idea what they were saying but no one is more passionate about their fans than Brazil and Norway. It was fun to watch," he added.
Craig had taken to Instagram the prior day to post photos from the outing, first sharing a selfie of just him and Lindsay, who he married in 2011, outside the stadium, followed by photos of the celebrations, including a fan declaring himself a "Norzilian," because of his Norwegian dad and Brazilian mom.
"Had a blast watching Norway upset Brazil with @lindsaycz, @savannahguthrie and @feldmike. Wasn't pulling for a particular team but man… the energy and especially those rowing Norwegians. Loved it!!!" He captained the post.
Fans were then quick to take to the comments section and gush over it, with one writing: "AMAZING game to be at!!" as others followed suit with: "Love you all together," and: "Love seeing you guys out with SG and Mike," as well as: "I love these smiles. You can tell the friendship and respect between you and Savannah is genuine and real, a lovely picture of you all."
