Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's highly publicized Madison Square Garden wedding in the lead-up to the 4th of July weekend was the biggest talking point in Hollywood for weeks.
The couple, who have been dating since 2023, finally tied the knot in front of a reported guest list of more than 1000 friends, family, and industry heavyweights, with some notable exclusions.
While some like Blake Lively and Robert Pattinson proved to be more surprising absences, others like their respective exes made more sense, including Travis' former partner Kayla Nicole.
The social media personality and sports journalist dated the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on-and-off for five years, with their romance ending in 2022, not long before he met the "Blank Space" singer.
Since then, while Kayla has spoken about the relationship, she has refrained from delving into further detail in recent months to avoid further public scrutiny. The exes have spoken in the past about the intense microscope on their relationship contributing to their split as well.
In the days leading up to Taylor and Travis' New York City wedding, Kayla shared a snippet from the latest episode of her podcast The Pre-Game, for which she'd invited her dad Roosevelt Brown to stop by.
The father-daughter duo discussed topics like her childhood, fatherhood, family life, and also his advice for her romantic relationships, including debating what constitutes a good first date and why no man is ever "good enough" for his daughter.
"That $200 dinner is a choice," he explained, adding of his POV on first dates: "That's part of the problem to me, you guys go to the 10th floor in two days. You ain't earned 10th floor money yet."
He then shared why, as a father, no one in his mind will ever be worthy of his daughter. "No guy is ever good enough for my daughter. God instilled that, until you prove that you are, you're just not." He specifically even shouted out rapper Bow Wow, who Kayla confessed to having a crush on when she was a teenager.
Fans of Kayla's were quickly on board with Roosevelt's ideas on dating too, commenting on the clip shared on her Instagram page: "Man, having a dad will always be a bigger flex than having a man," and: "This is so sweet. I can only imagine how he was after the public BS," plus: "HE's why she knows her value and self worth when it comes to men."
During an appearance on Harry Jowsey's Boyfriend Material podcast in late 2025, the Special Forces star revealed why she was "done" dating athletes. "But I'm down to date the owners of the teams," she quipped. "I'm really just open…[because] the bar is really in hell these days."
On a previous episode of her own podcast, she added of her future partner: "[They need to have] a job—can we start there? You have work to do. You have something to do besides bugging me all day."
"I'm more so invested in people's character and personality. I used to have a very like detailed physical descriptors and career and no kids – all that stuff kind of goes out the window."
