Erling Haaland hasn't only been getting noticed for his impressive skillset at the 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026, but also for his long golden locks of hair.

The professional Norwegian soccer player has been seen rocking a mohawk cut with a sleek ponytail out on the pitch.

Although the look has become Erling's go-to hairstyle, believe it or not, he didn't always have long hair.

When he was younger he used to rock shorter, gelled-back hair, and even had bangs at one point in time.

Turns out that soccer legend Zlatan Ibrahimović got him to embrace his longer do.

During Zlatan's younger years on the field, he too sported a ponytail.

During James Corden's show After Hours, Erling recalled: "Zlatan – you know what he told me? 'Never cut your hair because the strength is in the hair.'"

He continued: "What can I do? I have to listen to him, no?"

Since listening to Zlatan's advice, Erling has also financially invested a minority stake in the brand Bon Dep.

Erling's favorite hair ties come from Kknekki, which is under Bon Dep's umbrella of companies.

He consistently uses his tried and true hair ties of choice during all his intense games, including during the global stage of the World Cup.

Last month, Kknekki released a limited Haaland Edition, which included eight hair ties with colors that matched Norway's kits, and included a bead on each.

Given everyone's obsession online with his hair, it came as no surprise that the brand sold out as soon as it launched the new product and the site's views increased by 70 percent according to Inc.

On top of that, once fans saw Erling fittingly rocking his red hair tie while on the pitch, Kknekki secured 10,000 new social media followers.

Erling is also a proud global ambassador for the shampoo brand Clear Men, which put out a campaign surrounding the excitement of the World Cup.

Erling's father Alf-Inge Haaland played in the Premier League at one point in time, therefore, soccer is the family's passion.

Erling began playing the sport at Bryne FK's youth academy at the age of five.

In 2017, he joined Molde FK, and two years later he joined Red Bull Salzbure, before playing for Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

In 2022, he joined the big leagues by signing on to represent Manchester City.
