The 2026 FIFA World Cup means something more for the locals who have finally experienced the international games on their home turf.
Canadian actress Cobie Smulders loves the fact that the places where she grew up are a part of the sport's long history.
This time around, Canada, the United States and Mexico hosted 48 teams across its stadiums.
Cobie exclusively expressed to HELLO!: "It's so fun to have the games right in downtown Vancouver at BC Place, steps away from amazing restaurants and beautiful sights. I'll be supporting every game that Canada plays. I can't wait to watch the matches."
Over the summer, the entertainer teamed up with On Location and she served as a proud ambassador for the stadiums in Vancouver.
She gushed: "I grew up playing soccer in Vancouver so being an Ambassador for the games in Vancouver felt like a natural partnership. It's been such a treat to introduce On Location's audience to all things Vancouver."
Must-see in Vancouver
On top of soccer enthusiasts watching the intense games, they also get to discover Vancouver during their visit and it's a two-for-one situation.
Cobie added: "I am very proud of my hometown and I'm excited for fans from all over the world to travel to Vancouver to experience the amazing game day experiences that On Location is hosting."
She continued: "There are so many fun lounges, premium seating options and fun Canadian inspired food. Beyond just the game, On Location is offering guided tours of Van - such a fun way to explore the city!"
Love of the game
Cobie and her sister Juile grew up playing soccer, and they hold the sport near and dear to their heart, therefore, they've both continued to have it be a part of their adult lives.
The actress explained: "I have very fond memories of playing soccer and I learned great team work experience. I loved my teammates and even got to play with my older sister, Julie who now runs a non profit, She's Got Next, that supports female athletes."
Cobie continued: "She was always a better player than I was. The experience brought on a love of women's sports, especially Canadian Women's sports. Vancouver now has their own women's pro soccer league, The Vancouver Rise."
