Like Angelina Jolie herself predicted just a few years ago, she's already made her move out of the United States to resume her humanitarian work in other countries.
The Oscar-winning actress, 51, took to social media on July 22 to share that she'd recently been spending more time in Cambodia to continue her work with the Maddox Foundation.
In 2002, Angelina adopted her son Maddox Chivan Jolie, now 24, from an orphanage in Battambang. A year after, she created the namesake charitable foundation in his honor, and was even granted honorary citizenship for her work in the country in 2005.
Why is Angelina Jolie in Cambodia?
"I recently returned to Cambodia, where we've been building the @maddoxfoundation — a 100% locally led organization — since 2003. I'd like to share a little more about our story," she penned on Instagram on Wednesday.
"The @maddoxfoundation started with an urgent mission: to clear the land of mines left over from years of conflict, enabling locals to live and farm on it again. Once the land was safe, the work took on new shape."
Angelina continued: "Now, our rangers — recruited and trained locally — patrol the Samlaut forest against logging and poaching. Women support their families through sustainable beekeeping programs. Students from remote villages can stay at the Samlaut dormitory to finish high school. Our health center cares for mothers and young children. All of this is led by the people who live in the community."
The mom-of-six concluded by imploring her 16 million followers to learn more about and support the work of the foundation, which later shared on its own social media page that it had received a massive influx of support and partnership ideas over the past 24 hours alone.

Per the foundation's website: "The Maddox Foundation, founded by Angelina Jolie, started with one aim: to work alongside local communities to clear the most heavily mined land in Cambodia. The work was built on collaboration with rural communities from the very start. The first task was clearing landmines: making the land safe enough to live and work on again."
Since its foundation, the organization has reduced the threat of landmines in the area, made strides in the conservation and protection of the Samlaut Forest, elevated its forest rangers to government officials, built infrastructure for environmental preservation and education, and more.

Back in 2024, Angelina told The Hollywood Reporter that she hoped to leave Los Angeles for Cambodia soon after her youngest kids, twins Knox and Vivienne, turned 18 (they finally hit the milestone on July 12, 2026).
"I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they're 18, I'll be able to leave," she shared at the time. "[After Los Angeles,] I'll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I'll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world."

But since then, a majority of the couple's six kids have filed to legally drop their father's last name. Shiloh was the first to do so, and in recent months, Maddox, Zahara and Vivienne have as well.
