Ariana Grande has announced that for the foreseeable future, she'll be taking a step away from the limelight.
The singer and Oscar-nominated actress, 33, shared through a representative, per People, her decision to take some time out of the limelight following the conclusion of her Eternal Sunshine Tour on September 1.
© Getty ImagesOver the past few years especially, the singer has dealt with "endless" comments on her appearance especially, most notably her weight, which was heightened during the press runs for Wicked and Wicked: For Good, as well as her ongoing tour.
Many have also taken to the comments for her latest music video for her song "Petal" to share that take. While Ariana has not addressed comments on her body recently, she has in the past called out "bullying" from fans and social media users over her appearance and for perceived ideas of her health and lifestyle. "Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour," her statement from her rep reads. "She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny."
Showing her appreciation for the tour and the millions of attendees, it concludes with: "This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much."

People also reports that she will be dropping out of her upcoming West End debut in a revival of Sunday in the Park with George opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey, with Empire Street Productions later confirming that to be true. The production is still set to debut in 2027 and her role will soon be recast.
On July 31, Ariana released her eighth studio album titled petal, a return to her R&B-influenced roots that tackles topics such as failed relationships, finding love after heartbreak, and the darker sides of fame and public attention.

The album is currently on track to become another commercial success for Ariana, though, already pulling in high streaming figures and spending the weekend at number one on streaming charts worldwide. If it were to hit number one in the United States, it would be her seventh number one album.
