Tim Robbins caused concern during an appearance on the Today Show on Tuesday, August 4.
The 67-year-old star, best known for roles in films like Top Gun and The Shawshank Redemption, sent the room into a tizzy after answering a question that shocked host Dylan Dreyer.
While discussing Tim's newest show, Silo, Dylan asked: "So much about the show revolves around the concept of memory. What do you do to keep your memory sharp?"
Tim responded: "What was the question?" which made Dylan's co-hosts Craig Melvin and Al Roker burst out laughing. "I saw it coming," Craig said, while Al chimed in: "Well played!"
Unlike her co-anchors, Dylan hadn't expected Tim's witty answer. "I'm so gullible that I was going to re-ask the question." But, the actor didn't dodge her question forever. He shared that to keep his memory in tip-top shape he tries "to get enough sleep."
Tim Robbins' health at 67
The world first met Tim in the 1988 baseball film Bull Durham. The then 30-year-old actor starred as pitcher Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh alongside Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner. He credits the film with the launch of his career.
Three decades later, Tim is still acting and maintaining his health so that he can appear on screen for years to come. During a recent interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, Tim shared that he performs a 14-day master cleanse a couple of times a year, consuming nothing but a mixture of lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup.
"I just did 14 days where you don't eat a thing for 14 days, and it's amazing how great you feel at the end of it," The Shawshank Redemption star explained. "It's lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup, and that'll get you through the day. I do that a couple times a year."
While Tim credits the cleanse with his weight loss, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) argues there isn't enough scientific evidence to prove that cleanses or detoxes offer the many claimed health benefits.
Tim Robbins' love life
While on the set of Bull Durham, Tim met his future partner. The actor and Susan Sarandon were in a relationship for 21 years. In 1989, the famous couple welcomed their first child together. On May 15, John "Jack" Henry was born, and later, on May 4, 1992, they expanded their family with the arrival of their youngest son, Miles.
Throughout their relationship, Tim and Susan were quizzed about the possibility of marriage. In a previous interview, Susan noted that she preferred the idea of "choosing to be with somebody" and "thought that if you didn't get married, you wouldn't take each other for granted as easily."
And, after 21 years together, the two confirmed their split. Eight years after Tim and Susan ended their relationship, he married Romanian actress Gratiela Brancusi. The actress, who is 30 years younger than Tim, is best known for her role in 1993. But, after five years of marriage, the couple divorced in 2022.
