Craig Melvin is considering a major hair transformation, and he enlisted his loyal fans to help him decide. The Today Show host took to Instagram to share a video that captured him in the barber chair prior to his hair cut.
"Alright, here we are. You're coming along for my hair journey," said Craig in the clip. "This is the longest that it's been in thirty years. This was encouraged by my long time barber here, DJ Fresh. I'm at supreme cuts and we're about to get a cut. Let's see what happens."
The video then showed the barber carefully trimming and fading the sides of Craig's hair for a fresh look. "Here comes the difference maker. The hair racket. Apparently that adds the texture. Should we keep growing it out or should we cut it back down?" Craig asked in the video.
"No, this makes you look a little young," said the barber. "Oh, Fresh thinks I need to look younger," said Craig.
Craig concluded: "Okay, so what's the verdict? Keep growing it out or go back to what it used to look like? It's getting long. I might do cornrows or dreads."
In the caption, the NBC star penned: "I'm officially on a bit of a hair journey. What do we think? Be honest. Comment below #TODAYShow #NBC #Haircut #Barbershop #Melvinators."
Craig's friends and fans flocked to the comments section to weigh-in on his hair dilemma. "I have some feedback," wrote Craig's co-star, Laura Jarrett. "The beauty routine we’ve all been waiting for!" penned another follower.
"Keep it long King," commented one fan. "I think you need to taper the sides a little more so grow out sides and not make it so blunt then it will look fresh!" advised another social media user.
Craig Melvin's appearance transformation
Craig has been experimenting with his look recently, even debuting a beard while on vacation in July. Although he has since returned to his clean-shaven look, his facial hair sparked quite the reaction from his social media followers.
"Last full day of paradise and the scruff just got approved by my most important critic. Apparently growing it out is a vacation win. Hair growing, soul restored, daughter approves—what more could you ask for? Soaking in every moment before we have to leave this place #VacationMode #ScruffyDadWins #DaddyApproved #VacationMemories," he wrote in an Instagram caption.
"Looks good, Brother. And be thankful you can still grow it. Miss you," Al Roker commented beneath the post.
