Craig Melvin was noticeably absent from the July 20 edition of the Today Show as he enjoyed some well-deserved time off, soaking up the sun on a family vacation.
The NBC star took to Instagram to share a glimpse into his trip. The photo captured Craig's feet in a pair of flip-flops, with a sandy beach and the ocean stretching out in the background.
"Out of office…Nothing like hanging with the family. Hope you’re enjoying this summer too," Craig penned in the caption.
© InstagramThe news anchor's vacation comes after an intruder named Andrew Truelove was detained after breaking into the Today studios on July 16.
Andrew entered the NBC studio at Rockefeller Plaza around 9am local time by sneaking past security and following an employee who scanned in for access, per the complaint. Witnesses report he was looking specifically for Al Roker on the set, and then allegedly confronted Craig and yelled racial slurs.

Andrew has since been charged with hate crime-burglary, hate crime-menacing, hate crime-criminal trespass, and harassment.

Craig Melvin's family life with wife and two kids away from his hosting duties
Craig is no doubt enjoying some quality time with his wife and two children. The host and his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, met while both working at NBC Washington, with Craig enlisted as a news anchor in 2008 and Lindsay boasting the title of sports anchor. The pair tied the knot in 2011 with a wedding in Washington D.C. – the city where they met – at the Church of the Holy City. They later welcomed their son, Delano, in 2014, and their daughter, Sybil, in 2016.
The family's home in Connecticut is worth an estimated $6.2 million and features six bedrooms along with a whole variety of amenities.
