On the August 6 airing of Today, co-anchors Craig Melvin and Laura Jarrett, who has been sitting in for Savannah Guthrie, announced the news that the Gordie Howe International Bridge has opened up for pedestrian and cyclist transportation.
The bridge allows travelers to cross between Michigan and Canada.
Craig recalled the time he went over the bridge and called it "beautiful." Laura inquired: "On your bicycle?" Craig admitted: "No...maybe next time, now that I have the option," as Dylan Dreyer was heard cracking up in the background.
Laura commented: "I love when I can hear Dylan laughing off-camera a little bit." Dylan explained: "I can imagine Craig crossing the border on a bike with a helmet."
Craig interjected: "Thank you – with a helmet, thank you," while Dylan joked: "If it fits over that new hairstyle."
Craig revealed: "[That's] literally the funniest thing I've ever heard you say on television. Wow…the Dylan Dreyer drive-by."
Dylan playfully ran her hand over Craig's hair while they all laughed together.
Later in the show, the co-stars announced that Usher will be visiting the Jenna and Sheinelle show later in the morning.
Jenna Bush Hager teased: "Is he gonna serenade you, you think, Sheinelle [Jones]?" Craig added: "She's like, 'I hope so.'"
As Craig referenced an Usher song, Sheinelle joked: "He's got the haircut for it. He's ready."
Craig laughed and commented: "A lot of haircut jokes today."
Craig's hair journey
The journalist recently brought his followers along for his barber shop appointment and he teased: "Alright, here we are. You're coming along for my hair journey. This is the longest that it's been in thirty years. This was encouraged by my long time barber here, DJ Fresh. I'm at supreme cuts and we're about to get a cut. Let's see what happens."
In the clip, Craig asked his fans: "Should we keep growing it out or should we cut it back down?"
His barber responded: "No, this makes you look a little young," and Craig replied: "Oh, Fresh thinks I need to look younger."
The correspondent captioned his video: "I'm officially on a bit of a hair journey. What do we think? Be honest. Comment below #TODAYShow #NBC #Haircut #Barbershop #Melvinators."
During Craig's vacation last month, he showed off his grown out beard and he captioned his selfie: "Last full day of paradise and the scruff just got approved by my most important critic. Apparently growing it out is a vacation win. Hair growing, soul restored, daughter approves—what more could you ask for?"
He concluded: "Soaking in every moment before we have to leave this place #VacationMode #ScruffyDadWins #DaddyApproved #VacationMemories."
