George and Amal Clooney have made their first high-profile appearance following their terrifying wildfire ordeal in the south of France, stepping out for a glamorous evening in Lake Como with their rarely-seen twins, Ella and Alexander.
The family of four arrived by boat at the historic Passalacqua hotel on August 10, where they attended a special dinner honoring the Clooney Foundation for Justice.
Amal, 48, looked elegant in a black dress adorned with delicate floral embroidery, which she teamed with open-toe stilettos, a red beaded evening bag and statement gold tassel earrings.
George, 65, was equally polished in a gray suit worn over a crisp white shirt, while their nine-year-old twins accompanied their parents for the special evening.
© GC ImagesThe family appearance was particularly notable given how fiercely George and Amal protect their children's privacy. The couple, who married in Venice in 2014, welcomed Ella and Alexander in June 2017 and have largely raised them away from the spotlight.
The outing also comes after a frightening few weeks for the family, who were recently forced to evacuate their home in Provence as wildfires tore through the surrounding area.

George, Amal and their children were among around 600 residents who evacuated the historic village of Brignoles when a wildfire broke out nearby, reportedly burning around 320 acres.
While their 18th-century estate escaped the flames, George made clear that his family's concerns extended far beyond their own property. In a letter to Brignoles mayor Didier Brémond, shared by his publicist Guido Gotz, the Ocean's Eleven star described the situation as a "terrible moment" and spoke movingly about the family's attachment to their adopted French community.
"At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment," he wrote as the family evacuated. George continued: "We hope you and the people of our city are safe," before promising that he and Amal were "committed to making sure" they would help their community recover.
"We love Brignoles and our friends who live there," he concluded. Residents were subsequently given permission to return home, with George and Amal's property fortunately spared.

Mayor Brémond has since said he has "no doubt" that George will play a role in the community's recovery. Speaking to French news channel BFMTV, he said: "I know he's going to contribute, there's no doubt about that."
The mayor added that such generosity was characteristic of the Hollywood star. "He does it every time the town or area is affected. He wants to participate precisely to feel fully integrated."
The family's commitment to the area is significant. George and Amal were awarded French citizenship in December and have increasingly made Provence a base for their family.

George and Amal purchased their sprawling 18th-century property, Domaine du Canadel, in 2021 for a reported $8.3 million.
The spectacular 425-acre estate is understood to include a 25-acre vineyard, olive groves, a swimming pool, tennis court and private ornamental lake.
It has also provided something increasingly precious to the A-list couple: a private place in which to raise their children.
George has previously spoken about the family's decision to embrace life in France, where Ella and Alexander are afforded a level of normality that would be considerably harder to achieve in Hollywood.
Their peaceful existence was abruptly interrupted by the wildfires, making the family's relaxed arrival in Lake Como a reassuring sight following the uncertainty of their evacuation.

Their latest outing was also for a cause deeply personal to George and Amal. Founded in 2016, the Clooney Foundation for Justice works to provide legal support and defend human rights around the world, with particular focus on free speech and women's rights.
Amal's career as an international human rights lawyer has remained central to her life since marrying George, and the couple have increasingly combined their public profiles to advocate for causes close to them.
Lake Como, meanwhile, has its own special significance for the family. George has owned his famous Villa Oleandra on the shores of the Italian lake for more than two decades, and the idyllic destination has long provided an escape from Hollywood.
After the frightening scenes surrounding their French home, however, this particular family trip across the water is likely to have felt especially poignant.
With George and Amal smiling as they arrived alongside their children, the rare family appearance marked a welcome return to normality following what the actor himself described as a "terrible moment."
