Two days after Cristiano Ronaldo announced on social media that he had married Georgina Rodríguez, sharing a picture of their wedding rings, new details about their secret wedding have emerged.
Expectations surrounding their nuptials were high. But the couple opted for a discreet ceremony that took place in Cascais, Portugal, in complete privacy. Neither the footballer nor the model have spoken on their wedding, save for a press release confirming the news. They have only been seen wearing their wedding rings.
This Thursday, August 13th, per the Spanish Telecinco show El verano se mueve, new details have emerged on the marriage itself, per what is reported to be the registry document.
Where and when was Ronaldo and Georgina's ceremony?
The document confirmed that the football legend and the model said "I do" on August 11, the same day the couple first posted the picture after their wedding on their Instagram pages.
The photo showed their hands intertwined, each wearing a simple yellow gold wedding band. The ceremony took place in Cascais, in the southwestern part of Lisbon, at 1:30 p.m.
The ceremony's 4 witnesses
Their five children attended the ceremony, along with the couple's four witnesses, whose names are also listed in the marriage certificate. The first name on the list is that of Ivana Rodríguez, Georgina's sister, with the two sharing a close relationship.
Also listed is the name Miguel José, a close friend of Ronaldo's, whom he met years ago when they both played for Sporting Lisbon. Although he wasn't a particularly well-known player, he has always maintained a very close relationship with the Portuguese star, as detailed on the show.
The list of witnesses then included Jose and Monica, a mother and son who are close with Georgina and work in the jewelry business, per the show. The document also revealed that they had signed a prenuptial agreement prior to their nuptials, including division of property.
What are Ronaldo and Georgina up to next?
In Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo will continue with his professional commitments, although he will not resume playing until the season has begun. He will be absent from the start of the Saudi league thanks to a special leave granted to him after the World Cup and will specifically miss the first two matches of the season.
Since their nuptials, Ronaldo and Georgina have also reappeared on their social media accounts, although they've yet to share any actual details about their wedding.
Georgina shared a video in which she appeared to be wearing a bubblegum pink tracksuit at a fast-food stand and strolling through New York, promoting her sportswear brand.
Soon after, shared another photo on her Instagram Stories, this time showing off her wedding ring. In the snapshot, Georgina could be seen posing inside an airplane wearing sunglasses, a top from her own brand, and her hands on her chest, with her engagement ring on her right hand and the wedding band on her left.
Ronaldo has also since returned to social media. In his case, he responded to the moving tribute shared by his ardent years-long football rival Lionel Messi, dedicated to his late father Jorge Messi.
The Portuguese footballer sent him a tender message in the comments, writing: "A huge hug for you and yours in these difficult times, Leo. Stay strong."
