Shay Mitchell just came into quite a bit of money.
The Pretty Little Liars actress announced on Wednesday, August 12 that her luggage company BÉIS will be acquired by Samsonite for a whopping $210 million. Shay, 39, celebrated the deal on social media, writing: "This is a dream come true."
"I'm so proud of what our small but mighty team has built over the past eight years," she continued. "We've always dreamed big, and joining the Samsonite Group gives us the chance to dream even bigger. They're truly the perfect partner – our strengths complement each other so well, together we can take BÉIS places we couldn't have on our own."
Shay went on: "I'm so thankful that I get to do something I love every day. Eight years in, I'm as excited as I was on day one. It honestly feels like we're just getting started, and I can't wait for everyone to see what's next."
On her Instagram post, the founder received love from friends and fans of the brand. Influencer Brooks Nader commented: "BOSS BABE. SO PROUD!!!!" And Shay's Pretty Little Liars co-star Ashley Benson added: "That's my girl."
Why did Shay Mitchell start BÉIS?
In October 2018, three years after Pretty Little Liars wrapped, Shay founded BÉIS. As a frequent traveler, she thought that stylish and functional luggage was too expensive.
"BÉIS started when I drew up my ideal travel bag on a cocktail napkin while on an airplane, with all the features I had mentally taken notes of over the years," Shay told Business of Fashion in 2023.
Since its launch, BÉIS has become a fan favorite with children's luggage, inspired by her daughters Atlas, six, and Rome, four, and its beloved Weekender Bag.
Is Shay Mitchell still acting?
Shay is best known for portraying Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars, who broke boundaries when she came out as gay during the first season.
"Emily was such a trailblazer, especially at that time and on that network," Shay told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2026. "It was super important. That storyline is such a crucial one. I wish it had been a lot more common, but her character really started the conversation for so many people, and continues to."
Since then she has continued acting alongside her work at BÉIS. The actress starred in Dollface alongside Kat Dennings and Brenda Song from 2019 to 2022. Most recently, she was cast in the upcoming reboot of Baywatch as Trina, a former lawyer who left a top-tier firm to become a full-time lifeguard.
Shay celebrated her exciting role on Instagram, writing: "2017: pretending to be a lifeguard. 2026: Baywatch," with a throwback photo of her posing in a red one-piece swimsuit on a lifeguard stand.
