'Gorgeous' Kyra Sedgwick hasn't aged a day in then-and-now photos nearly 30 years apart

The actress and The Closer star marked her 61st birthday with a throwback to a red carpet appearance from 1997 in honor of her big day

Happy birthday, Kyra Sedgwick!

The Emmy-winning actress and filmmaker celebrates her 61st birthday on August 19, and is giving fans a glimpse of how life in the spotlight has transpired for her.

Kyra took to her Instagram page with a clip showcasing one of her red carpet appearances from 1997, at the American Movie Classics 5th Anniversary Film Preservation Festival at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, contrasted with one from the present day, the Los Angeles Premiere of her film Carolina Caroline in May 2026.

"61 years on this Earth today, and I'm grateful for every single one of them!" she captioned the clip, which you can see above, and it's clear to fans that the actress hasn't aged a day in the nearly 30 years since.

"Happy Birthday Gorgeous," one gushed, with another adding: "Wishing you a beautiful birthday filled with love and happiness! You are truly a shining light in the world," and a third saying: "You are beautiful inside [and] out," with one writing: "Happy 61-years-young!"

"Always there for everyone she loves. She's a goddess among us. We're so lucky to have you, mommy."

Kyra's daughter Sosie Bacon, who she shares with husband Kevin Bacon, also penned a tribute to her mom. "Happy birthday my queen," she gushed. "Leo warrior. Fierce and goofy. Always makes me giggle. Loyal. Always there for everyone she loves. She's a goddess among us. We're so lucky to have you, mommy."
