Jamie Lynn Spears was "definitely crying" after her daughter Maddie shared a "bittersweet" life update.

The 35-year-old was overcome with emotion when she moved her 18-year-old daughter into her dorm room at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she is playing softball.

Both Jamie Lynn and Maddie shared photos from inside her newly decorated room, which featured a monogrammed pillow on her bed and white, light blue, and gold furnishings.

One photo showed Maddie with her arms around her little sister Ivey, eight, as they posed beside her twin bed.

"3rd grader & a COLLEGE STUDENT (definitely crying)," Jamie Lynn captioned her photos, while Maddie wrote: "So bittersweet."

Maddie revealed in June that she planned to study health sciences before attending medical school with the dream of becoming a pediatrician.

"It's definitely going to be an adjustment being away from home, but I'm very excited to play softball and be on my own," she told People.

"Hopefully I'll end up going to medical school and end up being a pediatrician. That's what I really want to do."

Before Maddie even graduated high school, Jamie Lynn admitted she was "emotionally unwell" ahead of her daughter's major milestone.

"Already emotionally unwell, and the actual graduation hasn't even happened yet," the Zoe 101 actress penned alongside a carousel of photos on Instagram in May.

The month before, Jamie Lynn shared an emotional message alongside a series of stunning pictures ahead of the big day, including Maddie's graduation invite, which featured a picture of the teen posing in a polka dot prom dress while posing in a field.

In the caption, the doting mom wrote: "Welp….the grad invites are sent, the cap and gown arrived, and the last regular day of school is here….I guess the lovely state of denial that I forced myself to be in has to end, bc the reality of time is coming at me like a freight train."

She added: "Unlike some other guarantees in life (taxes & death), having the privilege of watching your children grow up is one of the most beautiful & fulfilling things we can experience as humans, and I am so grateful for each every up & down moment throughout the journey of motherhood this far.

"It's bittersweet, bc you're so proud of everything they have accomplished this far, and so excited to watch everything that their future will bring, while also longing for them to stay your baby forever."

As she reflected on her relationship with her daughter, the star ended her post by writing: "I know I'm one of luckiest mama's in the world, so I'll stop my rambling now, until I completely lose it on graduation day."
