Ryan also posted adorable selfies of the couple taking a stroll in the woods, as well as exploring New York City together.

The movie star captioned the carousel: "August 25th is this family's Super Bowl. Happy Birthday to the very best human I know. You're not just another courageous and deeply kind genius. You're also unreasonably cute.  I know how lucky I am that you were born. Every time I've ever hit my head, it's YOUR life that flashes before my eyes."

Fans loved the wholesome post and flocked to the comments to cheer the pair on.

Hugh Jackman commented: "Happy birthday Blake!!!"

A second person added: "Happy birthday Blake. Such a sweet tribute." A third fan continued: "Happy birthday to the Queen."

Ryan's take on parenting

Ryan reflected on the struggles he's had being a father, while trying to emotionally regulate through challenging moments.

During the Cannes' discussion called "Creativity at the Pace of Culture," he opened up: "I'm like any parent — I'll have a moment where I'll just snap. It's not so much what you do in the moment that's interesting, it's what you do afterwards."

The star revealed how he's used his own personal "brutal mistakes" to instill confidence in his children finding their individual paths.

He recalled: "I used to tell my kids, 'Don't waste your mistakes.' When you're making mistakes it's easy to be absorbed by shame and this idea that you've done something wrong, but you also have to look at it critically and use it as a stepping stone to learning something profound."

Ryan's path to healing through fatherhood

Ryan also shared that becoming a father helped him overcome his own traumas from childhood.

He explained to Fatherly: "[Fatherhood] changed me a lot. Being a father is a healing process for me. It allows you to reconcile some of the issues I maybe had or some of the issues that made my relationship with my father quite complicated."

The star continued: "Some people pass down those issues to their own kids. I count myself as lucky and my brothers as lucky that we haven't fallen into that pattern. My father wasn't a terrible guy but he had his own struggles."

In the duo's home, they want their children to feel safe and open with expressing their emotions.

He revealed: "Expressing boundaries is important. I try to observe more than evaluate. You want them to grow up with a healthy sense of self but to understand that the world doesn't revolve around them. Empathy is a big cornerstone for Blake and me. I wish they taught empathy in schools."
