It's a celebratory day for the Rossellinis, with Isabella Rossellini celebrating her son's 44th birthday.
Roberto Rossellini Jr. was born in Italy in 1982, although it wasn't until 1993 that he was adopted by the Oscar-nominated actress, now 74. Isabella also shares a daughter, Elettra-Ingrid Rossellini Wiedemann, with her ex-husband Jonathan Wiedemann.

Isabella posted a photo of herself with Roberto on Instagram, who is now a working model, from his birthday last year, revealing in her caption that she was on set in Poland this year. "Happy birthday to my darling son Roberto. In the photo, last birthday together but this year [I'm] away working in Poland," she wrote.
The Conclave star also included a clip of herself in Warsaw, showing off the beautiful colors around her, adding: "But I miss him," of her son.
Meet Roberto Rossellini Jr.
Roberto Jr. entered the world of modeling in 2016, although told W Magazine that same year that he doesn't see himself in the same vein of the fashion industry as his mother or his sister. "I'm in a different lane than they are," he explained.
Although, he did share some of the words of wisdom his famous mom gave him. "My mom always gives me tons of advice. 'Make sure you're always walking straight; make sure your back is tall; don't ever look down. … Be normal and be cool. Be happy.'"
Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini's rollercoaster romance
Roberto is named after his famous grandfather, Italian filmmaker Robert Rossellini, a pioneer of neorealist cinema who became renowned for his depictions of everyday life and trauma with works like Rome, Open City, Paisan, and Stromboli, all between the 1940s and 1950s.
© InstagramStromboli marked his first collaboration with Swedish superstar Ingrid Bergman, by then already an Oscar-winning actress and Hollywood mainstay, known for classics like Intermezzo, Gaslight, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and Casablanca.
When Ingrid and Roberto began working together on Stromboli, they began an affair that damaged the former's reputation in Hollywood, one that had been carefully crafted by studio execs to present her as simply chaste, family-oriented and lady-like. At the time, Ingrid was married to Petter Lindström, with whom she shared a daughter.
Roberto was then married to Marcella De Marchis, although was conducting an open affair of his own with Rome, Open City star Anna Magnani. He and Anna split when he began his relationship with Ingrid, which went public when they welcomed a son together.

While the romance proved disastrous to Ingrid's reputation at the time, she was able to bounce back as more and more of Hollywood stepped in to defend her, and she received her second Academy Award for her comeback vehicle, 1956's Anastasia. Ingrid continued to actively work in cinema outside of Hollywood after developing a fondness with Stromboli until her death in 1982.
Isabella's family life
Isabella, the most famous of Ingrid's four children (she welcomed a daughter named Pia with her first husband Petter) has been married twice, first to Martin Scorsese from 1979 to 1982, and then Jonathan from 1983 to 1986.
