Savannah Guthrie had a bittersweet revelation about her mother Nancy Guthrie while she announced major news on Today alongside her co-hosts on September 10.

The TV star revealed: "This October, all of us representing every hour of Today – we'll bring you the show live from Ireland, the Emerald Isle." Fans can follow their overseas journey on October 16 across all four hours of Today.

Savannah long dreamed of visiting the country overseas and she shared what personal detail makes the upcoming trip all the more meaningful.

She explained: "It's funny because I love that we're all going. I've never been to Ireland. My mother's family – my mother was Irish. Her grandmother – they were from Galway." Savannah asked Carson Daly: "You have Irish [in you] right?"

He proudly explained: "I'm 99.9 percent Irish. I got the report back, like literally. And the one time that I did go, I went into a pub and they were like 'Welcome home lad. Carson Daly's home.' He was dead serious too."

Savannah Guthrie details her morning routine

Savannah expressed: "I'm so excited guys. I'm gonna eat Lucky Charms every morning until we go." Carson interjected: "I'm gonna drink Guinness [beer] every morning," and Dylan Dreyer added: "I'm right there with you."

The team celebrated the big news by enjoyed Carson's favorite drink of Guinness beer. Prior to the co-hosts making the major announcement, they provided some context into how Savannah "manifested" their soon-to-be trip.

Savannah got sentimental about her mom

They showed a throwback clip from last year of the TV star interviewing actor and Irishman Pierce Brosnan about visiting Ireland in the future.

During the interview, Savannah revealed: "We were talking about Ireland. I am dying to go to Ireland." Pierce commented: "You'll love it."

The journalist always wanted to go to Ireland

The TV host continued: "So, I should go," as he agreed. "Do you wanna go," she inquired, and Piece replied: "Yeah anytime."

The journalist commented on the interview, expressing: "Was I flirting with Pierce or was I trying to go to Ireland?" Al Roker joked: "Two things can be true."

Savannah's co-hosts surprised Savannah with a video that Pierce recently sent in after he heard the team would visit his motherland, and it was a heartwarming full-circle for Savannah.

In it he shared: "You're off to Ireland – well when you go there, say hello to one and all. I love the country. Give it a big hug and a kiss from me and to you, once more Savannah, much love. Enjoy Ireland, the Emerald Isle. God bless, travel safe."
