No matter how long Jay-Z and Beyoncé's three kids have been in the public eye thanks to their family's immense fame, the anxiety of parents doesn't get any easier.
Jay-Z, 56, and Beyoncé, 45, are the proud parents of teen daughter Blue Ivy, 14, and twins Sir and Rumi, nine. While Sir remains firmly out of the spotlight, both Blue and Rumi have found themselves embracing the limelight as performers in recent years.

She's been a principal dancer for two of her mom's tours (Renaissance and Cowboy Carter), is one of the youngest Grammy winners in history, made her red carpet debut at the 2026 Met Gala, played the piano for her dad's recent shows at Yankee Stadium, and is generally seen as a teen style idol.
Why Blue Ivy makes her dad Jay-Z "nervous"
Of course, it all comes with a bit of nerves from her parents. Speaking with Extra TV at the premiere of his eight-part HBO docuseries in New York City on Sunday, September 13, Jay-Z elaborated on feeling "nervous" for her.
"I'm more nervous for her than I am for myself," he quipped. "But she's put in the work and she's a student. And she loves it, so just to watch her find her way is extraordinary."
He also told the outlet that becoming a father and a husband has added "maturity" to his work as a songwriter, and it inspired him to "keep challenging yourself and push forward."
The "99 Problems" rapper has always shared an extremely close bond with his firstborn, highlighting it in an interview with GQ earlier this year. He touched on the sexual assault allegations that were levied against him in 2024 in connection with Sean "Diddy" Combs, which made the headlines the same night as the premiere for Blue's movie debut, Mufasa: The Lion King.

The dad-of-three explained that despite the mix of emotions he felt at the time, "our family, we are a tight unit," and he didn't want to miss her big night.
He shared another example of Blue's support. "Blue has this jersey with 'Jay-Z' on the back. She put it on one day. She went to school with the 'Jay'. I was just in the corner, like tears coming down. Seriously."

Blue as a "crazy pianist"
The "Empire State of Mind" hitmaker further gushed about his talented teen. "Blue is a crazy pianist, but she won't let us get her a teacher," he noted. "She doesn't want it to be a job. But she has perfect pitch. If she hears a song, she'll be like 'Play it again' and then she'll teach herself."
