Oprah Winfrey had fans looking twice after she joined best friend Gayle King for a waterfront walk in Dublin, wearing a fitted workout outfit.

The 72-year-old television star showed off her figure in a white scoop-neck top and dark brown leggings, finishing the look with white trainers, oversized sunglasses and an olive-green cap. Her straight hair fell loose around her shoulders, while hoop earrings and a watch completed her accessories.

Gayle brought a splash of colour to the outing in an orange vest and matching cycling shorts, which she teamed with colourful trainers, layered necklaces and sunglasses.

The photographs, shared on Gayle's Instagram account, prompted followers to remark on Oprah's appearance. "I didn't recognize Oprah until the third look, ladies y'all have turned your lives around. Kudos," one wrote. Another added: "Oh my God I didn't even recognize Oprah. She looks great."

Oprah and Gayle King's Dublin outing

The friends were photographed walking along a stone pier, with blue skies overhead and the water stretching out on either side.

In another image, Gayle sat on a low wall while Oprah stood beside her with one hand on her hip. The pair also stopped beside a vivid red lighthouse, where Oprah rested one trainer on a rock and gave the camera a thumbs-up.

Both appeared relaxed as they posed together, with Gayle's curly hair catching the sunlight in the waterfront photographs.

The outing offered another glimpse of Oprah's enthusiasm for staying active, following her candid accounts of building strength and changing her approach to weight management.

Oprah Winfrey's strength-training progress

Earlier this year, Oprah shared a fitness milestone that had taken patience and practice. In a February Instagram video, she compared her first attempt at a plank in August 2024 with a more recent session. Initially, she had managed ten seconds before dropping to the mat. By the later recording, she was holding the position for more than a minute and incorporating weights.

"Planks are the most challenging exercise for me. My first one in 2024 lasted 10 seconds," she wrote alongside the footage. She also explained that improving her strength and flexibility had become an important part of her approach to ageing.

What Oprah said about her diet and fitness

Oprah had previously traced a turning point in her fitness to her recovery from knee surgery in 2021. Speaking to People in December 2023, she described gradually increasing her hiking distances, eventually managing three to five miles a day and longer weekend walks.

She also discussed her eating habits at the time, including finishing her last meal at 4pm and following WeightWatchers' points system. "I felt stronger, more fit and more alive than I'd felt in years," she told the publication.

Oprah Winfrey's experience with weight-loss medication

Alongside exercise and changes to her eating habits, Oprah spoke openly about using prescription medication to manage her weight, that saw her go from around 237 lbs to 155 lbs.

In a December 2025 interview with People, she revealed that she had stopped taking GLP-1 medication for a year after her 70th birthday in January 2024. Despite continuing to exercise and eat healthily, she said she regained 20lb.

The experience changed how she viewed her treatment, which she compared with taking medication for high blood pressure. "It's going to be a lifetime thing," she told the magazine.

Oprah Winfrey's changing relationship with her weight

Her reflections extended beyond the number on the scales. In the same interview, Oprah discussed letting go of the belief that her difficulties with weight reflected a personal failure.

She also spoke about her book with obesity specialist Dr. Ania Jastreboff, Enough: Your Health, Your Weight, and What It's Like to Be Free, which brought together her experiences and conversations about obesity. After decades of public scrutiny, she described a different attitude towards herself. "That's the lesson I learned: I stopped blaming myself."
